The tournament was full of well-known professional poker players. The final table was simply stacked, and gunning4you had his work cut out for him. As he does in live tournaments, Scott Seiver played smart and tough, ultimately taking over during three-handed play and pushing strong heads-up. Seiver adds a SCOOP title to his ever-growing list of poker accomplishments.
*****
Day 5 of the 2014 Spring Championship of Online Poker was a fun one for mixed game players. They had a good deal of variety, with Heads-Up Omaha, NLHE Ante Up, and No Limit Single Draw 2-7. The last of those was Event 13, and the high buy-in version required $2,100 to participate.
The tournament had a fairly modest turnout but one that doubled the guaranteed prize pool.

Total prize pool: $100,000.00

It wasn’t until well past the seven-hour mark that the final table bubble was in play. It didn’t take long from there for Seb86 to move 5,119 chips all-in and stand pat with that hand. H.Oussale called, stood pat, and showed 6♦ 5♦ J♣ 9â™ 2â™ . Seb86 had only 10♥ Jâ™ 5♣ Q♥ 4♣ and had to leave in eighth place.
H.Oussale high above final table
The final table kicked off with seven players in Level 14, which meant 250/500 blinds and a 125 ante. The players and their chip counts were as follows:
Seat 1: H.Oussalé (90,276 in chips)
Seat 2: SirWatts (21,115 in chips)
Seat 3: MrSweets28 (32,698 in chips)
Seat 4: gunning4you (39,014 in chips)
Seat 5: BiatchPeople (21,380 in chips)
Seat 6: Vingtcent (35,657 in chips)
Seat 7: ISmellToast (9,860 in chips)
It only took a few hands for short-stacked ISmellToast to make a move. It happened in a hand that started with a raise from ISmellToast, call from H.Oussale, reraise from MrSweets28, and all-in reraise from ISmellToast. MrSweets28 was the only caller and stood pat with 9♥ 6♣ 3♣ 2♦ 8♦ , while ISmellToast took one card and ended up with 5♦ 4♥ 9♣ 3♦ Q♦ , which was not good enough. ISmellToast was out in seventh place on the money bubble.
The rest of the players were guaranteed at least $5,500 for their all-day efforts.
BiatchPeople raised from the button preflop, and when H.Oussale raised from the big blind, BiatchPeople called all-in. H.Oussale stood pat with Q♦ 5♣ 8♥ 10♣ 6♣ . BiatchPeople took one card and displayed 2♠9♠4♥ 8♠9♥ , but that was only good enough for a sixth place finish and the $5,500.00 that went with it.
Quite a while later, SirWatts still sat on the short stack and made a push with 4♣ 7♦ 9♣ 10♥ 5♥ . H..Oussale called with 9♥ 3♦ 2♣ 8♥ 4♥ , and both players stood pat. SirWatts exited in fifth place with $7,500.00.
Four-handed forever
The final four played on for nearly an hour, and it was Vingtcent who lost the most ground during that time. With little more than 8K chips remaining, Vingtcent moved all-in, took one card, and ended up with 5♠8♠8♥ 4♦ 2♣ , but H.Oussale called, stood pat, and showed 2♠9♥ 6♠10♠7♣ . Vingtcent exited in fourth place with $10,000.00.
Galfond goes
MrSweets28 and gunning4you were both trailing H.Oussale during three-handed play … until gunning4you doubled through H.Oussale.
MrSweets28 wanted to do the same and got into a raising war with H.Oussale that led to MrSweets28 pushing all-in. H.Oussale called with 7♦ 6♠2♠9♥ 4♣ , while MrSweets28 discarded one and then showed Q♦ 7♣ 3♦ 5♦ 8♦ . That left MrSweets28, better known to some as Phil Galfond, out in third place with $15,000.00.
Tough 2-7 heads-up
The two players still in contention for the SCOOP title were as follows:
Seat 1: H.Oussalé (139,546 in chips)
Seat 4: gunning4you (110,454 in chips)
They exchanged the lead back and forth for the first 10 minutes of play, and then gunning4you doubled through H.Oussale with a J-9-6-4-3 that beat Q-8-6-5-2.
H.Oussale was fairly low on chips but doubled up to 61,884 chips two hands later. Every time H.Oussale made progress, gunning4you took those chips back.
Finally, H.Oussale raised and took two cards, and gunning4you called and took two as well. Gunning4you bet, H.Oussale raised, and gunning4you pushed all-in with 4♥ 2♠8♥ 6♣ 5♣ . H.Oussale called all-in with 7♠8♠3♠6♦ 2♥ , which was good for second place and $25,000.00.
Scott “gunning4you” Seiver won the SCOOP title, watch, and $37,000.00. Congrats!
