Comparing the waltz to breakdancing, a walk across a nature park to base jumping from Eifel Tower, or perhaps playing chess to lining up behind the center in an American football game. Call it a drastic change in pace from the Event #14 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo tourney that finished this morning with Kroko-dill taking home the SCOOP watch to this evening’s Event #17-H Pot Limit Omaha 6-max with rebuys. At $1,575 for the entry fee and $1,500 for a rebuy, which 89 of them were purchased between the 98 runners, making a mistake in the opening hour was a little costly. 78 players grabbed the 5,000 chip add-on to create a $200,000.00 guarantee busting $397,500.00 prize pool.

Several Team PokerStars pros dropped by to add to the prize pool, but only one would be left standing after nine hours of play with a shot at the money. Noah “Exclusive” Boeken (77th place), Marcel Luske (70th place), Vadim Markshevski (49th place) all finished out early on.

Toni Judet would get six and a half hours deep into the tourney but with a relatively short stack of 6,415 chips (when the table average was around 30K). With blinds at 150/300 he would face off against Event #10-H champ HN Kakaroto flopping the lower two pair, and ship his remaining stack to HN Kakaroto finishing in 30th place. Johnannes Strassmann was also nursing a smaller stack and about 15 minutes after Judet fell, the German pro would follow him on the sidelines after falling to catch with a wrap draw versus delegator’s flopped set and finished in 27th place. “Nacho” Barbero was looking good for a deep cash this evening and perhaps adding another SCOOP watch to his wrist, but his flopped pair and flush draw was no match for p0cket00’s pocket aces and Argentinean pro would finish outside the cash in 20th place.

That left Team PokerStars pro’s hopes on the reigning World Series of Poker champion Jonathan Duhamel who showed his prowess at four card poker as well, making the cash tonight after Yuri de Haan and e1mdopp got it all-in on the flop. With the blinds at 500/1,000 e1mdopp enjoying a six figure stack and Yuri de Haan’s tournament life on the line, both players would shove at a Q♥ 2♣ 7♥ flop with Yuri de Haan showing 9♣ 8♦ Q♣ 10♦ for top pair and some backdoor draws against e1mdopp’s kings with the flush draw K♠ 5♦ K♥ J♥ . 6♥ on the turn gave Yuri de Haan the big draw he was looking for but another six 6♦ on the river failed to improve either hand as e1mdopp collected the 84,252 chip pot and Yuri de Haan finished as the bubble boy in 13th place.

No WSOP bracelet/SCOOP watch double for the champ tonight however as Duhamel got a rude awakening by HN Kakaroto. With the blinds at 600/1,200 Duhamel made a raise UTG to 3,600 and found three callers, and the four players took a gander at theQ♦ 3♥ 4♦ flop. Skilled G checked as the Canadian pro followed through with a pot-sized bet that only left him with 11,120 chips behind. adiprene1 folded but HN Kakaroto raised to 60,000 as Skilled G folded. With an overpair K♠ K♣ 7♠ J♠ Duhamel made the call to see HN Kataroto’s flopped top set Q♠ 9♠ J♥ Q♥ . No help on the turn 4♥ or two-outer on the 8♦ river and Team PokerStars pro Jonathan Duhamel finished in 10th place ($9,937.50).

After Mike “SirWatts” Watson could not find enough of the board against adiprene1 to finish in eighth place ($14,906.25), nine hands of hand-for-hand play would pass until adiprene1 would face off preflop against Skilled G. With the blinds at 800/1,600 and Skilled G only holding 21,154 chips would trade raises with adiprene1 until both created a 43,108 chip pot. Skilled G’s K♣ 9♣ Q♣ Q♠ suited queens a good fit for battle versus adiprene1’s O8 looking hand 3♦ 8♠ A♣ 5♣ but the board shot out an ace and a five J♦ 2♦ A♦ 5♥ 6♦ favoring adiprene1 and ending Skilled G’s chances at a final table in the seventh place ($14, 906.25) starting the race for the $108,318.75 first prize along with the SCOOP champion’s watch.

Counterfeited on the river

Just 12 minutes into the final table after over 10 hours of play Us_Alex’s short stack became a zero stack. With the blinds at 800/1,600 toweliestar min-raised from the cutoff as delegator and Us_Alex called out of the blinds to see the 5♠ 7♥ Q♠ flop. delegator led out for 6,650 as Us_Alex made the call while towelistar let the aggression go. 3♥ on the turn and delegator bet slightly less than the pot but enough to put Us_Alex’s 19,588 chips all-in. Holding two pair 3♦ J♣ 10♦ Q♣ Us_Alex made the call and happy to find himself ahead of delegator’s 10♣ A♠ K♦ Q♦ top pair. But, the 7♦ on the river counterfeited the queens and treys giving delegator’s queens and sevens ace-kicker the 62,016 chip pot and eliminating Us_Alex in sixth place ($20,868.75).

With the blinds at 1K/2K and everyone with a healthy stack, HN Kataroto made a raise to 4,900 and found a caller in e1mdopp as well both blinds: adiprene1 and delegator, to see a broadway Q♥ flop. adiprene1 checked as delegator tried to take it down with a healthy 14,400 chip bet. HN Kataroto called but the chip leading e1mdopp popped it to 58,000. adiprene1 folded but delegator popped it all in (145,890 chips) holding the broadway straight J♦ 10♠ 8♦ 7♦ as e1mdopp called and also held the straight 10♦ K♦ J♣ J♠ . But, e1mdopp would catch a cringe worthy 10♥ on the turn opening up a few outs to a full house. Sure enough, the last ten in the deck 10♣ found its way to the river giving e1mdopp Tens full of Kings and the redraw netted a huge 325,780 chip pot sending delegator home in fifth place ($27,825.00) and earning slightly more than his Event #11 third place finish on Thursday.

Denied a watch for the other wrist

As we moved past the 11th hour of play and the blinds moving up to 1,250/2,500 e1mdopp continued to hold nearly 50% of the chips in play and was out looking for more after min-raising from the cutoff. HN Kakaroto fell to the short stack of 93,233 but made the call from the big blind. J♥ 9♠ J♦ on the flop and HN Kakaroto checked the option as e1mdopp followed through with a 5,200 chip bet, HN Kakaroto then check-raised to 12,000 as this set off a series of re-raises until HN Kakaroto had a decision to make for the remainder of his 50,483 chips. Give up holding trips with top kicker A♦ 6♦ A♥ J♣ and concede that e1mdopp has a full house or shove and hope the chip leader was being aggressive with trips a lower kicker. HN Kataroto decided to make the call and e1mdopp rolled over the Nines full of Jacks 10♣ 9♥ 9♦ 6♥ , leaving HN Kataroto a few outs to a higher boat. The four outer (e1mdopp held one of the sixes) did not hit on the 3♦ turn nor the 2♦ river and HN Kakaroto notched another big SCOOP 2011 final table score to go with his Event #10 win in fourth place ($37,762.50).

Dinner break

e1mdopp would double up adiprene1 in a set over set situation but retained a small lead as the threesome went to the 12th hour dinner break:

Throwing in the towel

Shortly after the 15 minute dinner break toweliestar faced a sizable bet from e1mdopp with the board showing 6♠ 3♦ 10♦ J♦ A♥ and take nearly half his time bank before calling the 48,600 chip raise only to see e1mdopp’s nut flush A♦ 5♦ 7♦ A♣ leaving toweliestar with under 100,000 chips. This would be the beginning of the end for Spindler as six hands later he would be all-in post flop against adiprene1. With the blinds at 1,500/3,000 toweliestar would push in all but 33,753 of his chips preflop against adiprene1. After the 5♦ 10♦ 8♣ flop the rest of them went in as adiprene1 called with suited aces 3♥ A♥ A♠ 3♦ . toweliestar did not miss completely notching top pair and a gutshot draw 10♥ K♣ 9♣ Q♥ but neither materialized on the 2♠ turn and 5♥ river as the 2009 SCOOP Event #21-H champion (scoring $310,000 for the win over John Duthie) would take away $55,650.00 in third place tonight.

Deep stacked heads-up play

Heading into the 13th hours of play our remaining two players would have plenty of room for play as e1mdopp still held the lead carrying over 141 big blinds with the blinds at 2K/4K as adiprene1 also held nearly 100 big blinds. Omaha produces coolers like no other form of poker and it would take a few before seeing this SCOOP championship watch around one of their wrists.

ul, gg about sums it up

For those who have not mastered the short hand text-speak at the tables, adiprene1 offered “ul, gg” (unlucky, good game) after the final hand shown in the video below. But, the tournament changer would come 17 hands earlier when it was adiprene1 who would be all-in post flop. With the blinds at 2.5K/5K e1mdopp min-raised from the button as adiprene1 re-raised to 24,444. e1mdopp came right back with 73,332 total as adiprene1 made the call to see a 7♠ 7♥ 8♥ flop. adiprene1 checked as e1mdopp bet 82,300 and adiprene1 check-raised all-in for 330,218 total as e1mdopp holding trip sevens A♦ K♦ 7♣ 10♣ made the call. Gutshot draw was no good, but adiprene1 held K♥ Q♣ J♣ 9♥ in bad need of a heart. Turn card 4♥ . e1mdopp still had full house and quads outs on the river, but the 6♠ fell and the massive 807,100 chip pot shipped to adiprene1 leaving e1mdopp with just 143,900.

Flopped set for e1mdopp, turned two outer for adiprene1 for the higher set after e1mdopp got bit from being a little sneaky by checking the flop. After the 7♣ hit the river, adiprene1’s come from behind victory in Event #17-H was worth $108,318.75 along with the SCOOP champion’s watch!
