PokerStars may be the only place you can buy into a tournament for $11 and play for a $100,000 prize pool. The $50,000 guarantee for the Low version of Pot-Limit Omaha Turbo, SCOOP Event 23, was shattered as 4,719 players created a $101,060 prize pool with 3,419 rebuys and 1,968 add-ons.
For the small entry, players were shooting for a first-place prize of $15,856.64, with 675 participants reaching the money. Lex Veldhuis was the only Team PokerStars pro among those cashing, with $42.44 for a 390th place finish.
The turbo format of this event ensured a quick tournament–the field was narrowed almost to double digits in three hours and the final table in four. A double elimination during hand-for-hand play resulted in a final table with only eight participants.
Final table positions and chip counts were:
Seat 1 — wolfino83 (1,995,654)
Seat 2 — mavrap (1,903,743)
Seat 3 — MikiOpasniy (751,948)
Seat 4 — I has it (5,749,296)
Seat 5 — SE7E (6,204,792)
Seat 6 — Ikenny187I (8,858,961)
Seat 7 — stripytiger (1,925,978)
Seat 8 — nunosoares (2,927,628)
After doubling up twice, MikiOpasniy looked to make a move up the leaderboards, but in this hand full of big pairs, a running flush by stripytiger gave Tigger a big triple up:

That hand sent mavrap packing in eighth, worth $1,263.25.
Another double elimination sent two players out of the event. MikiOpasniy raised to 2.1 million from the hijack position and SE7E called all in for about 2 million on the button. Stripytiger re-raised all in to 3.6 million from the big blind and MikiOpasniy called all in for only 15,000 more.
The hands:
stripytiger 5♥ 10♥ J♥ 5♣
MikiOpasniy A♣ 6♥ K♥ 8â™
SE7E A♦ K♦ 2♠7♥
The board ran out fantastically for stripytiger in the form of 8♣ 10♠10♣ 6♦ 10♦ to give the German quads. SE7E got the seventh place position by a hair to earn $2,273.85 while MikiOpasniy collected $3,284.45 for sixth.
The deal
The players asked the tournament to be paused to consider a chop by chip count, which they all quickly agreed to without any deliberation. The players were guaranteed these amounts: $12,005.91 for stripytiger, $9,276.63 for Ikenny871I, $9,176.63 for I has it, $8,129.47 for nunosoares and $6,380.88 for wolfino83. In addition, the champion would get another $1,000 and the SCOOP victor’s watch.
I has it then went on a tear, taking down his four opponents in only six hands to cruise to the win.
First, playing 400K/800K blinds, I has it raised to 2.8 million under the gun with K♣ K♥ 3♥ 2â™ and Ikenny187I raised all in to 4.8 million from the cutoff with 7♦ 7♥ 5♥ 10♦ . I has it called and the board ran out 4â™ 5♦ A♥ J♣ 2♥ to give I has it the straight. Ikenny187I earned his chop money in fifth–more than double what he would have gotten without a deal.
On the next hand, stripytiger made it 2.8 million from under the gun and I has it called in the big blind. After a flop of 10♣ 8♦ 4♠both players checked. The turn card of K♥ opened up the betting, as I has it led for 6 million and stripytiger went all in for 8.35 million. I has it called and showed Q♣ K♠J♥ 8♣ for two pair, kings and eights, while stripytiger was hoping for the straight with 7♥ Q♥ A♣ J♦ . The river bricked in the form of the 6♦ , but stripytiger took home the nice consolation prize of $12,005.91 knowing that he would ultimately win the most money from this event no matter the end result.
Two hands later the next victim fell. I has it raised to 3.5 million from the button playing 500K/1 million blinds and nunosoares pushed for 7.5 million from the small blind.
The hands:
nunosoares 2â™ 7♦ Q♦ 3â™
I has it 6♦ A♠10♠Q♥
The board: J♣ 10♣ 3♥ 4♠J♦
Tens were good for I has it as he sent the Portugese player packing in third.
Two hands after that, and the sixth in I has it’s amazing run, the Norwegian finished the deal with this takedown:
