Just around the corner is this year’s instalment of one of the biggest online tournament series; The PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). With bigger and bigger prize pools every year, this year’s series is shaping up to be a bang!

With a plethora of game types and buy-in amounts, SCOOP is sure to offer something for everyone. I’m looking forward to playing some of the draw game tourneys and limit hold’em events. If no-limit is your preference, there will be plenty of events to choose from. If you want to play some of the other forms of poker, you are in luck because they will pretty much all be available as an event during the series. It’s nice to play something other than no-limit tourneys all the time and there is no better place than during the SCOOP.

You can see the full SCOOP tournament schedule here.

Something to consider when choosing a poker series to compete in, is the expenses associated with the event. Things like airfare, hotel, and other travel incidentals can add up and make playing the event much less cost effective. With SCOOP, you don’t have to worry about any of those issues and you can play from the comfort of your own home. As well, if you are new to poker, playing in a live event can be a little intimidating. The anonymity of playing online can help ease your fears so you can focus on playing the game.

If you’re planning on playing many events with the hopes of capturing a title, make sure you don’t get burnt out before the Main Event. It is a long and grueling schedule so pace yourself so you stay sharp in every event you play. I suggest deciding which events you want to play before the series starts so you will have a better picture of the time and effort you will be putting in.

Winning a SCOOP event carries with it a great amount of prestige. As one of the premier poker series available online, this is one series you don’t want to miss. Good luck at the tables, and if you see me playing, say hi in the chat.
