Home / News / Stadium Series Wednesday update: Big one for Nora; Fintan’s run continues

Three Heats are now in the books in Stadium Series, with a pattern beginning to take shape. Austrians continue to dominate in the high buy-in events, and Russians are still strong in the medium and low. But some of the best-known names have started to come to the fore in Heat 4. Read all about it…

STADIUM SERIES NEWS BULLETIN

Top 13 in Heat 3 (just to include Fintan)

Bloody Nora: Not much is known about the Austria-based player behind the screen-name “23noraB” on PokerStars, but he or she has a decent string of cashes in major tournaments over a long period — bolstered by the biggest win of Tuesday night in this year’s Stadium Series. 23noraB won the $109 Sunday re-buy in 2014, for $75K, and also won a High Rollers shootout tournament on PokerStars in 2017, for $44,000. Add in fourth place in the Sunday Million in 2018 and second in a SCOOP $215 buy-in event this year, and you have the makings of a consistent tournament player. Last night’s result, in the $530 high buy-in version of Heat 3, was worth $47,160, including $20,984 in bounties. It came after defeating a 712-entry field. Regular tournament grinder “DotComRicher” was beaten into second place.

More Russian success in the medium: In April, he finished sixth in the Sunday Million, banking $50,620.81. But last night, Russia’s “MegaBobeR_55” stuck around until the bitter end of Heat 3-M in the Stadium Series, turning his $55 buy-in into $36,999.13, including $15K in bounties. As is the way in PKO tournaments, the top two prizes in the official payout structure are all but equal, but whereas “cigonas100“, who finished second, took only $1,971 in bounties in addition to his $21K payout, MegaBobeR_55 had nearly $14K more. The final table of six had players from six different countries: Russia, UK, Poland, Greece, Netherlands and Brazil.

Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer

Hand gets a grip on Stadium Series: Despite being well positioned in fourth overnight, Fintan “easywithaces” Hand’s run in Heat 3-H ended in 13th place, with a cash worth $2,299 (plus $2,511 in bounties). But Hand’s night didn’t end there. The Malta-based Irishman, whose Twitch stream is compulsive viewing these days, bagged chips at the end of Day 1 in the $530 buy-in Heat 4 and sits in 13th of 45 remaining. Niall “Firaldo87” Farrell, who has already made a final table during this Stadium Series, tops the counts, with SCOOP crusher and all-round superstar Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer in third.
