Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Warm-Up: Ned_bg goes wire-to-wire for the $78K win

There will be some celebrating in The Netherlands tonight. Well, there was that football match that the men in orange won and may cause a few pubs to keep their lights on later tonight. But, someone else donning the Dutch national colors may be joining in a different celebration. Ned_bg would start the $400,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up final table with the chip lead and end up as its champion taking down $78,147.09 with the victory.

Tonight it only took eight hours to break down the mass of 2,473 entries into two tables and with the shortened field they threatened to reach the final table within the hour. Players like EZGrind, with a third place during the Sunday Million last year (earning $118K) and MCvisitor who nearly claimed a SCOOP watch during Event #36-L this year, would reach the final two tables. But, MCvisitor and EZGrind would go no further claiming $1,830.02 in 17th and 18th place respectively.

40 minutes into the eighth hour onkel georg would take away $3,214.90 in 11th place after darogio flopped a set of jacks and avoided onkel georg’s diamond flush draw for a 2.1 million chip pot. Five minutes later with the blinds still at 30K/60K ante 6K nille93ab would raise to 180,000 from the small blind as fjaluz made it 2.38 million total after shoving from the big blind. Holding 605,655 chips left, nille93ab made the call holding a suited mid-ace 7♣ A♣ and leading fjaluz’s 9♥ K♦ . That lead evaporated on the flopped two pair 5â™  Kâ™  9♣ 3♦ 3♥ for fjaluz as nille93ab’s elimination started up the final table below:

Netherlands strike first

Showing off the country football colors as part of the PokerStars Football Fever promotion, Ned_bg was making waves early on hoping for a second big victory for the Dutch today. With the blinds at 30K/60K ante 6K fjaluz would raise UTG to 126,000 as Ned_bg called from middle position. BitterAce12, no stranger to the Sunday Warm-Up final table after chopping up in third place for $72K last October, was back again and looking for the title. BitterAce12 would shove 741,153 from the cutoff as fjaluz pulled back the cards and released them. Ned_bg however made the call with pocket nines 9♣ 9♦ . BitterAce12’s big slick K♥ Aâ™  was racing until the turned set of nines for Ned_bg 2♥ Qâ™  4♣ 9♥ 2â™  ended BitterAce12’s tournament in ninth place ($4,204.10).

L_Cesk needs less diamonds

Just six minutes later as the blinds moved up to 40K/80K ante 8K darogio would min-raise UTG as it folded around to L_Cesk on the button with under a million chips and big slick K♠ A♠ . L_Cesk would push those 934,118 chips as darogio made the call also with a suited ace A♦ 9♦ . Only one suit can prevail if any and this time it was diamonds that splashed across the K♦ 7♦ 5♦ 5♠ 6♣ flop sending L_Cesk off with $7,171.70 in eighth place.

Short and nowhere to go

Shortly after the five minute hourly break, microstacked Lew1903 tried to use the off-time to wrangle up a chop deal despite only holding 174,404 chips. Unfortunately, the table was not persuaded by Lew1903’s charms as the Swede pushed all-in slightly over the early fjaluz raise. fjaluz with just 6,404 chips to call, did so with pocket tens 10♥ 10â™  as Lew1903 turned over the sizable Q♥ A♦ . A severe lack of broadway cards on the 9♣ 7♦ 2♣ 5♥ 5♣ board would send Lew1903 home in seventh place ($12,117.70).

Late surge by the Dutch again

As with The Netherland’s late victory over Mexico today Ned_bg came on strong during the later parts of tonight’s final table. With the blinds moving up to 50K/100K ante 10K and Ned_bg, enjoying a sizable chip lead holding over ten million chips with only second place darogio close by with 5.5 million, would open shove from the small blind to place considerable pressure on the shortstacked bananeraise in the big blind. Holding two face cards K♦ Q♥ bananeraise would give it go and called for 1.07 million as Ned_bg turned up 6♣ A♣ . The river 4♣ 9♥ 10♥ 3♣ J♣ would help both players hit their draws as bananeraise caught a straight but Ned_bg did one better with the nut flush. Chalk up another big final table finish for bananeraise earning $17,063.70 in sixth place tonight along with a WCOOP final table in 2011 Event #50, also 6th place $16,925.70.

Taking a snooze

Further into the 50K/100K ante 10K level got fjaluz looking for extra chips in the wrong places. Able to open on the button, fjaluz shoved for 1.44 million as BubsenMan folded the small blind. However, the chip leader Ned_bg was more than accommodating to give action with pocket kings K♥ K♦ . fjaluz would flop a lesser two pair holding Qâ™  10♣ but Ned_bg finished with a full house on the 8â™  10â™  8♣ Aâ™  K♣ board. fjaluz’s fifth place efforts earned $22,009.70. Micromillions 7 was fjaluz’s place to shine, after making a final table there as well.

Wire to wire for Ned_bg?

The chip lead was wielding the big stack like woodchipper going through branches and during all challengers into wood pulp. With the blinds up to 65K/130K ante 13K Ned_bg would min-raise from the button as AlGiNho shoved for 1.45 million from the small blind. Covering, darogio in the big blind made the call but deftly got out of the way once Ned_bg shoved the massive 13 million chip stack into the middle. AlGiNho’s J♥ A♣ would get trampled by Ned_bg’s pocket queens Q♥ Q♣ flopping a boat Q♦ 7♦ 7♥ 5♥ 7â™  . $28,934.10 was shipped off to AlGiNho in fourth place.

Next!

Ever sit in the line at a government office waiting and waiting and waiting hearing every other number but yours getting called? Well, tonight Ned_bg was calling the numbers and biding time while eliminating all challengers. Still in the 65K/130K ante 13K blind level SCOOP 2014 Event #16-L champ BubsenMan would try to knock a dent into Ned_bg’s stack starting off with a min-raise from the button as Ned_bg three-bet to 650,000. BubsenMan made it 4.04 million holding 3♣ K♥ as Ned_bg made the call with a decent ace A♥ J♥ . BubsenMan took the lead with a flopped top pair, but lost it on the river as the queen completed a straight Kâ™  10â™  J♣ 10♣ Q♣ for Ned_bg. No Sunday Major victory today for the SCOOP champ as BubsenMan took away $42,041.00 in third place.

Why don’t you give up this is my tournament!

Ned_bg would start with a 21 million to 3.7 million chip lead with blinds at 65K/130K ante 13K but 40 minutes and a brief (and unsuccessful) chip chop discussion later, the stacks would flatten out a bit causing Ned_bg to ask darogio why Polish player was being such a pest.

darogio would be put against the ropes several times finding a double up at just the right moment to extend the tournament. After each double up Ned_bg would turn up the aggression and knock darogio right back down. Rinse and repeat a few times until the 125K/250K ante 25K blind level with Ned_bg holding a 19.2 million to 5.4 million chip lead both would get it all in the middle preflop as Ned_bg’s pocket fours 4♣ 4♥ squared off against darogio’s Jâ™  K♦ . Despite the scary flop 9♥ 10â™  9♦ 8♦ 6♥ Ned_bg would finally put the finish move on darogio, claiming $78,147.09 as this week’s Sunday Warm-Up champion!
