Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Warm-Up: How sweet it is, candy1984 wins $84K after two-way split

Your sweetness is my weakness. Barry White was smooth with a microphone in his hand but the winner of the $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up was holding something sweeter to the tune of $84,255.40 after taking down a field of 2,882. candy1984 would chop the final two spots with dávid68 but managed to take down this week’s title with a little surprise on the river.

Down to two tables Zack “Zackattak13” Korik and was looking for another major final table. The SCOOP 2012 Event #14-M winner and two-time SCOOP finalist in 2014 held an average stack with 18 players remaining.

Rui “sousinha23” Sousa, holding a top three stack as tournament moved into the ninth hour of play, also hit a final table during SCOOP 2014 taking fifth for $43K. Only 12 players would get a five-minute respite before heading into the final table.

Supernova Elite nailuj90 would send Korik to the rail in 11th place ($3,602.50) as the hand-for-hand portion of the tournament lasted all of one hand. With the blinds at 50K/100K ante 10K Sousa would open shove for 3.7 million as SvZff called all-in for 1.3 million from the big blind. SvZff’s pocket eights 8♦ 8♣ looked ready for another big final table (Sunday Million in 2013 earning $50K) but sousinha23’s Q♦ J♦ notched a queen on the river 7♥ 6♦ A♥ 7â™  Q♥ to start up the final table below:

Seat 1: candy1984 (5431248 in chips)
Seat 2: sousinha23 (5264631 in chips)
Seat 3: nailuj90 (5864025 in chips)
Seat 4: dirty.brasil (2349696 in chips)
Seat 5: 550as (1099132 in chips)
Seat 6: dávid68 (3115159 in chips)
Seat 7: Greenstone25 (2959486 in chips)
Seat 8: big_pot1984 (1690359 in chips)
Seat 9: dudd1 (1046264 in chips)

550as lasted ten minutes as the shortstack as dávid68 found aces to send 550as away in ninth place ($4,899.40).

WCOOP 2012 Event #20 champ dirty.brasil tried add a Sunday Major after coming into the final table with an average stack. However, after twenty minutes those chips would turn into a bite-sized morsel for candy1984 as the bracelet winner earned $7,792.92 in eighth place.

While candy1984’s stack got sweeter, big_pot1984’s chip count headed in the opposite direction. With the blinds up to 80K/160K ante 16K big_pot1984 shoved 1.3 million over nailuj90’s min-raise. The Supernova Elite does not just have a bunch of VPP’s but also final tables in the Sunday Million, WCOOP, and SCOOP but no major wins.

Yet.

big_pot1984’s 9â™  10â™  would fail to catch nailuj90’s Aâ™  K♦ on the A♥ 3♥ 4♥ 3â™  5â™  board taking away $13,545.40 in seventh place.

Greenstone25 added another big final table appearance tonight after hitting the Super Tuesday final table in November (winning $20K). Greenstone25 would nearly bank the same amount after losing a critical flip against dávid68 earning $19,309.40 in sixth place.

Rui “sousinha23” Sousa’s run for a title tonight would be ended by candy1984. “Good timing, wrong result” as Sousa shoved a shortstack with A♥ 8â™  getting called by candy1984’s A♣ 7♥ . The turned seven Q♣ 10♥ 3♥ 7♦ 9♥ added two million chips to candy1984’s stack and $25,073.40 to Sousa’s pocket in fifth place.

After the tenth hourly break nailuj90’s stack took a nosedive from chip leader to out in fourth place ($33,143.00) as candy1984 controlled half the chips in play.

I want candy

dávid68 will get all the sweets one could handle after putting away dudd1 in third place. Give credit to dudd1 for making it this far after never holding much clout but taking away $48,417.60 in third place after A♦ 3♣ failed to catch up to dávid68’s Aâ™  J♥ on the 2♦ 10â™  A♥ J♣ 4♦ board.

After 15 minutes of heads-up play, the two made possibly the most expedient deal in the history on the Sunday Warm-Up agreeing to an even split of $74,255.40 with $10K still on the board for the champ.

The chop of the money certainly got our final two to end this game quickly. Five minutes following the split candy1984 would open up a 20.4 million to 8.4 million chip lead. Then, with the board showing K♣ Jâ™  6♣ 10♥ 3♣ and 6.5 million in the pot, dávid68 tried a value bet for 2.4 million. But, instead of calling for the third time, candy1984 raised all-in as dávid68 called holding the flopped set J♦ J♥ . candy1984’s rivered flush 7♣ 8♣ was too sweet for dávid68 to handle as candy1984 claimed the extra $10K as this week’s Sunday Warm-Up champion!
