Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Warm-Up: OtB_RedBaron flies through field winning $89K

For a while during this week’s Sunday Warm-Up, it looked like Joe Cada would dominate the headlines adding a Sunday Major win to his impressive list of accomplishments including a second World Series of Poker bracelet just last year. However, OtB_RedBaron could do no wrong taking out Cada and outlasting the other 2,830 entrants to win $89,208.80.

Read on below for OtB_RedBaron’s flight to the winner’s circle.

Twenty minutes after the ninth hourly break World Series of Poker Main Event champ Joe “jcada99” Cada would responsible for setting the final table.

First, he applied a little pressure by pushing 2.7 million chips from the small blind as Abduvali 75 needed to make a decision from the big blind holding 9â™  Qâ™  and 1.2 million with blinds at 50K/100K ante 10K. Abduvali 75 made the call as Cada turned over 4♦ A♥ and the board wasted no time laying out a wheel 3♣ 5â™  2â™  K♦ 3♥ ending Abduvali 75’s tournament in 11th place ($3,540.00).

Four hands later being the nice guy he is, Cada would call the all-in of a short-stacked Joe Santana holding A♣ 8♣ . Joe Santana showed the dominate 9♣ A♠ as Cada seemed to be in a giving mood. However, the river card 7♠ J♦ 3♠ 2♠ 8♥ decided to hand that charity back Cada as the final table would start up below:

Seat 1: henri72 (1131504 in chips)
Seat 2: Luckkozak (2222466 in chips)
Seat 3: OtB_RedBaron (3476545 in chips)
Seat 4: Barrrii (2765738 in chips)
Seat 5: Thegrandape (5996389 in chips)
Seat 6: OMGRubCasco (2716544 in chips)
Seat 7: jcada99 (5381886 in chips)
Seat 8: bailey160 (2708122 in chips)
Seat 9: dan2dorie83 (1920806 in chips)

Usually players like to soak it in after making the final table of a Sunday Major. However, henri72’s time here would be cut short.

As in the first hand short.

henri72 has been to major final tables here before at the WCOOP, SCOOP, and even a Sunday Million. However the past exploits would not help Aâ™  Kâ™  defeat OtBRedBaron’s 8♣ 8♥ on the 3♦ 10â™  9♦ 6♦ 6â™  board to finish in ninth place ($4,814.40).

Twelve minutes later back-to-back eliminations continued the accelerated pace.

First, 2015 Event #28 TCOOP champ OMGRubCasco (and nearly a two-champ this year) would four-bet Joe Cada out of the pot as an extremely shortstacked bailey160 was all-in. Cada would later remark he nearly jumped into the pot. OMGRubCasco turned over 6♠ 5♠ as bailey160 was temporally in the lead with K♦ 2♥ . The six on the 6♥ Q♥ 9♣ 9♠ 10♥ board would cut bailey160 from the table in eighth place ($7,657.72).

Luckkozak would roll the dice shoving from the small blind over a min-raise with pocket tens 10♣ 10♥ . Barrrii made the call with nines 9♥ 9♦ and the door card 9♠ 2♥ Q♥ 5♥ 3♠ made it a set as Luckkozak would need to settle for seventh place cash ($13,310.40).

During the tenth hourly break the six remaining player would chatter about a possible deal but OtB_RedBaron utilized the devil emoticon while saying “I rather play“.

And so we did.

OMGRubCasco’s aggressiveness would continue to highlight but left the TCOOP treading water twenty minutes into the tenth hour of play. But, an shove by OtB_RedBaron would change the population of the table.

OtB_RedBaron: whoops
Barrrii: so that’s how you do it

Dan2dorie83 would min-raise to 500K from the small blind as OtB_RedBaron shoved 4.3 million from the big blind. Dan2dorie83 had zero issues calling off 3.3 million with aces A♦ A♣ . Even worse news for OtB_RedBaron’s Aâ™  4♣ . But the board was in a giving mood flopping a four and turning another one 4♦ 5♣ Q♥ 4♥ 5♦ sending dan2dorie83 off harshly in sixth place ($18,974.40).

Cada to this point would see his raises get three or four bet too often as his stack wilted down to 1.6 million with blinds at 125K/250K ante 25K. OMGRubCasco was trying to rebuild as well, shoving 770K from the button as Joe shoved from the small blind with deuces 2♥ 2♦ . OtB_RedBaron tried get rid of Cada and the TCOOP champ in one hand by calling with A♦ [8b]. OMGRubCasco’s A♥ 5♥ would miss the 6♣ 7♦ 7â™  K♣ 4â™  board, as Cada’s deuces held knocking out OMGRubCasco in fifth place ($24,638.40).

However, that four million chip pot was not enough to springboard Cada to a Sunday Warm-Up win. OtB_RedBaron was in the middle of winning five hands in a row after taking over the chip lead. On the fourth hand after OtB_RedBaron min-raised to 600K, Cada would shove for 3.4 million holding 7♣ A♥ . Unfortunately for him OtB_RedBaron had the goods A♣ K♣ and the 10♣ 2♥ 5♠ 10♦ 9♥ board sent Joe home in fourth place ($32,568.00).

OtB_RedBaron was not done there. The huge chip leader would shove from the small blind as Barrrii made a decision to call all-in from the big blind with K♦ Q♦ . OtB_RedBaron’s J♣ 9♥ would find a nine 9â™  2♥ 6♣ 4â™  5♣ and Barrrii would find $47,577.60 in third place.

Thegrandape would start off with 10.5 million to OtB_RedBaron’s 17.8 million and blinds at 150K/300K ante 30K. But, much like the famous flying ace Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen, OtB_RedBaron would prevail.

OtB_RedBaron would use the stack size to pummel Thegrandape. Fifteen minutes into heads-up match with the board showing 10♥ 2♣ 7♥ Q♦ 8♣ OtB_ReBaron would bet Thegrandape out of the hand taking down a critical 9.2 million chip pot.

On the next hand now trailing 21.8 million to 6.4 million Thegrandape would shove over a min-raise holding Q♣ J♥ . Well, OtB_RedBaron showed queen-jack Q♠ J♠ as well and many viewers likely myself were waiting for the board to play out and split up the pot for the next hand.

The next hand of the Sunday Warm-Up would be dealt next week.

Because three spades 2â™  5â™  6♣ Kâ™  4♦ decided to end this week’s tournament and hand over $89,208.80 to OtB_RedBaron as this week’s Sunday Warm-Up champion!
