Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Warm-Up: Perfect timing, NutsErryTime claims $109K

Big brother is throwing the house party tonight. The Sunday Million capped another successful year by offering a $5,000,000 guarantee tonight (which was crushed with help of 31,439 players showing up). Despite the smaller size, the $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-up provided plenty of action on its own. SCOOP 2013 Event #15-M runner-up NutsErryTime would get to heads-up play again, this time against Ka Kwan “kaju85” Lau. Both times he started heads-up with a sizable disadvantage, but this time NutsErryTime would defeat Lau and take home $109,461.21 with the victory.

With only 29 players left and the blinds at 15K/30K ante 3K, the top two overall stacks got it all-in preflop. Chris “moorman1” Moorman, the recent WPT L.A. Poker Classic main event winner, and runner-up during a side event the EPT Berlin last year, holding kings against eijseijs’ pocket queens. They would watch a third lady hit the turn, shipping 5.3 million chips to the Swede. Moorman would bust out on the next hand earning $1,568.70 in 29th place.

Eijseijs would retain the lead over 15 other survivors going into the ninth hour of play. Younas “cocoojones” Rønhoff was still in and looking to improve on a near-miss in 15th place at the weekly Super Tuesday two weeks ago.

Spanish player (who moved to Portugal) Ka Kwan “kaju85” Lau hit the EPT 10 Prague Main Event final table last year, banking €283,800 in fourth place and was still alive with 12 players remaining.

After taking a commanding chip lead into the penultimate table, eijseijs was unable to continue his run to the final table, finishing in 11th place ($4,183.20).

Shortly afterwards, with the blinds up to 65K/130K ante 13K, EnisMarch and basil86 locked horns preflop for a five million chip pot. EnisMarch showed queens Q♣ Q♥ as basil86 flipped up big slick A♠ K♠ and politely exited the arena when the flopped flush draw and overcards failed to get there 2♣ 6♠ 9♠ 2♦ 8♣ . It left a final table line up as below:

SundayWarmUp_122814.jpg

Seat 1: matros24 (2,504,340 in chips)
Seat 2: El Guaje07 (5,687,585 in chips)
Seat 3: gigiaps (727,509 in chips)
Seat 4: Ka Kwan “kaju85” Lau (3,369,836 in chips)
Seat 5: Younas “cocoojones” Rønhoff (3,311,463 in chips)
Seat 6: NutsErryTime (4,550,477 in chips)
Seat 7: sauce3000 (2,632,159 in chips)
Seat 8: VELES888 (6,744,768 in chips)
Seat 9: EnisMarch (5,331,863 in chips)

Just seven hands into the final table, El Guaje07 would show gigiaps to the door in ninth place ($5,577.60).

Seven minutes later, Ka Kwan “kaju85” Lau tried to bully Younas “cocoojones” Rønhoff into handing over his blinds by open shoving from the small blind. However, Younas made the call with pocket deuces 2♣ 2♥ creating a 5.4 million chip pot. Lau’s 7♣ 8â™  did not look like much but with a seven on the flop 4♣ Qâ™  7â™  Aâ™  9♥ , it shipped $8,715.00 to Rønhoff in eighth place.

Lau would take over the chip lead the hand before the blinds moved up to 125K/250K ante 25K. After Lau raised to 410,000 chips, sauce3000 shoved for 5.9 million holding A♦ Q♦ . Lau made the call for his remaining 5.22 million behind with the dominating A♣ K♥ . No flush scares on this 5♣ 9â™  9♣ 6♦ 3♦ board as the 11.7 million chip pot went in Lau’s direction.

Don’t fret for sauce3000 just yet as it took six hands to spin up 350K in chips to over three million to get back into contention.

Time to say good-bye

The spin-up would give sauce3000 an extra ten minutes at the table as a blind steal attempt holding 10♥ 9♥ in the small blind was stopped by VELES888 calling the 2.3 million chip push with A♦ 8♠ . With zero hearts on the Q♦ 2♦ 4♠ 5♠ 2♠ board sauce3000 collected $15,687.00 in seventh place.

Two hands later with the blinds moving up to 150K/300K ante 30K, EnisMarch would take out El Guaje07. Despite starting behind preflop with A♣ 10♣ versus A♠ K♠ , EnisMarch would flop the nut flush Q♣ 9♣ 8♣ J♠ 5♠ taking in 8.4 million chips and the temporary chip lead. El Guaje07 received $22,659.00 in sixth place.

Six minutes later matros24’s shortstack run finally met its end. VELES888 would shove for 3.69 million chips from the cutoff as matros24 called all-in from the small blind for 1.47 million with Qâ™  A♦ . VELES888 held one pip better Aâ™  Kâ™  and after a king in the door K♦ 6♣ 9♦ 8♣ 8♦ matros24 earned $29,631.00 in fifth place.

Kaju’s run for the title

Just three hands after doubling up, VELES888 would try again against kaju85. After min-raising from the button, VELES888 would call all-in for 5.2 million chips from the small blind holding pocket queens Q♣ Q♥ after Lau’s push. VELES888 would flop a set 9â™  Q♦ K♥ 6♣ 10♥ , but Lau’s J♦ A♦ notched a straight to send VELES888 $40,089.00 in fourth place.

Lau’s chip lead would hover over NutsErryTime and EnisMarch’s stacks holding about 63% of the chips in play. The towering stack and rising blinds, now at 200K/400K ante 40K, would press them to combine their chips for a run at the title.

NutsErryTime would shove for seven million with 9♣ K♠ from the small blind as EnisMarch made the call for less with a medium ace A♦ 7♦ . Nine on the flop and a missed flush and turned straight draw 4♦ 8♠ 9♦ 6♣ Q♠ sent $57,519.00 to EnisMarch starting the chop talks.

No thank you

With a near $28K difference between first and second the negotiations were not heading in a great direction at the start. But, after a few minutes it looked like a deal was made. NutsErryTime then said “no deal” and the cards went back in the air.

Sorry but not sorry

NutsErryTime would offer a chop again when the chips evened out a bit. But Lau stuck to his guns and wanted to play this out.

Twelve minutes after the busted chop talks Lau would shove 21.5 million over a min-raise by NutsErryTime. Pocket queens Q♥ Qâ™  made an easy answer for NutsErryTime defeating kaju85’s pocket fours 4♣ 4♥ despite getting an extra sweat on the river 3â™  5♦ 9♦ 2♥ Jâ™  .

Ka Kwan “kaju85” Lau – Runner-Up $81,572.40

On the next hand Lau unfortunately ran into another dominated hand, calling all-in for 8.2 million total with Aâ™  10♣ . NutsErryTime called and showed big slick K♦ A♥ riding it 8♦ 6♣ Q♥ 3♦ 5♣ to this week’s Sunday Warm-Up title and winning $109,461.21!
