Home / Uncategorized / Sunday Warm-Up: RigasDinamo is dynamite in victory after three-way chop

If you have not read the newsflash on the PokerStarsBlog or after logging in tonight, next week the big brother to the $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-Up will be getting a sizable upgrade players will not want to miss. The Sunday Million’s 8th anniversary will feature an eight million dollar guarantee with at least $1,000,000 of that going to the player that defeats a field with the population of a medium-sized town in the suburbs. RigasDinamo ‘only’ had to defeat 3,624 players to claim this week’s Sunday Warm-Up title. After a three-way chop with pads1161 and mora7777, our champ took away $89,060.80.

Halfway through the tenth hour of play only 13 remained out of the original 3,624 player field as upgasm was likely not too pleased with STEALurM0NEY. With the blinds up to 65K/130K ante 13K STEALurM0NEY would min-raise from the small blind as upgasm tried to take some easy money by shoving for 1.9 million. STEALurM0NEY however started with 5.4 million chips and was ready to play with Kâ™  Qâ™  . upgasm’s Aâ™  2♦ failed to hold as a king found its way to the 5♣ 8♥ 4♥ K♦ 7♥ board to propel upgasm out of the tournament in 13th place ($3,261.60).

After tRaMp$d0PrAy and RonnyBGood1 collected $4,348.80 in 11th and 12th place respectively, the two five-handed tables knuckled down for hand-for-hand play. It looked like Big_Slick557 was going to become tonight’s bubble boy after shoving all-in for 1.55 million holding (appropriately) big slick Kâ™  A♥ and getting a call from STEALurM0NEY with pocket kings K♥ K♦ . However, the straight 10♣ 9♥ 8♦ 7â™  J♦ across the board meant more play before naming our final nine.

More play meaning one hand, as on the other table Lazeris99 was trying to rise from a small stack. With the blinds up to 80K/160K ante 16K Lazeris99 would shove for 1.34 million from the cutoff as bigegypt made the same play from the small blind for 1.73 million holding 10♥ Aâ™  . Lazeris99’s Q♣ J♣ missed a 40 percent chance to win by the river as the 5♣ 2♣ 10♦ 8♦ 2♦ board saw him perish in 10th place, setting up the final table below:

Seat 1: mora7777 (2,738,252 in chips)
Seat 2: luigisipapa (3,982,164 in chips)
Seat 3: RigasDinamo (4,714,554 in chips)
Seat 4: RichieA7s (4,909,938 in chips)
Seat 5: Big_Slick557 (1,715,708 in chips)
Seat 6: pads1161 (4,046,075 in chips)
Seat 7: OshriAK (3,374,480 in chips)
Seat 8: STEALurM0NEY (7,435,564 in chips)
Seat 9: bigegypt (3,323,265 in chips)

Stealing more money

With the blinds moving up to 100K/200K ante 20K luigisipapa was nursing a smaller stack and shoved from middle position holding A♣ 10♠ . Folding all the way around to STEALurM0NEY in the big blind ready to play A♥ 8♥ . The flopped flush draw would hit on the river J♥ 4♥ 7♦ J♣ 5♥ sending 2.5 million chips to STEALurM0NEY and $5,798.40 to luigisipapa in ninth place.

Dinamo-mite!

Three hands later, after the 10th hourly break, Big_Slick557 pushed out a min-raise from early position and RigasDinamo made the call from the big blind. The Q♥ J♣ 7â™  flop got both of the players’ attention as RigasDinamo check-raised all-in for 4.86 million. Holding pocket aces, Aâ™  A♣ , Big_Slick557 made the call for less. Make that cracked aces for Big_Slick557 as RigasDinamo flipped up a set of sevens 7♦ 7♥ . No running straight nor ace on the turn 3â™  and river 2â™  meant Big_Slick557 would be asked to leave the final table in eighth place ($9,060.00).

Repeat bid cracked

Cracked aces would headline another big hand later on in the 100K/200K ante 20K blind level as one familiar face made a repeat visit to the Sunday Warm-Up final table. Just four weeks ago WCOOP champ RichieA7s outdueled Nick “FU_15” Maimone for the Sunday Warm-Up title while picking up $86K in the process. After RichieA7s min-raised from the button, OshriAK tried to push for 2.47 million in the big blind holding 10♦ K♦ . RichieA7s was eager to call with A♣ A♥ and looked solid for the 5.1 million chip pot after the 5♣ J♣ 4â™  flop. But the runner-runner straight 9♦ Q♦ had other ideas, knocking RichieA7s down to 1.2 million. Those funds would go all-in preflop on the next hand as pads1161 made the call from the button with pocket nines 9♣ 9♦ . More bad luck for RichieA7s, flopping extra flush outs with J♥ Aâ™  but missing everything Kâ™  2â™  6â™  5♥ 10♥ by the river to earn $16,308.00 in seventh place.

Grand larceny

More STEALurM0NEY highlights, but this time in video format. Check out the replayer below as STEALurM0NEY claims this 6.4 million chip pot:

STEALurM0NEY’s Aâ™  10â™  was enough to defeat bigegypt’s Q♦ K♦ on the 7♦ 9♣ Jâ™  9â™  9♦ board, claiming the 6.4 million chip pot and sending bigegypt off with $23,556.00 in sixth place.

Padding the chip lead

As the blinds moved up to 150K/300K ante 30K the remaining five got antsy about making a deal. But, instead of a deal being made two players received the same stated amounts showing after registration closed 10 hours ago. In the largest pot of the final table to this point pads1161 and OshriAK took things preflop creating a 14.7 million chip pot. OshriAK’s A♥ 10â™  needed lots of help against pads1161’s pocket tens 10♣ 10♦ but the ten on the river K♦ 3♥ 7♣ 5♣ 10♥ was not the necessary improvement as OshriAK walked away with $30,804.00 in fifth place.

Seven hands later while the whispers of the chop talk continued, pads1161 would pad the chip lead with another eight-figure pot. The blinds holding at 150K/300K ante 30K, pads1161 raised to 666,666 as STEALurM0NEY used different numbers to post a bet and shoved for 4.97 million. Holding 10♣ A♠ , pads1161 made the call as STEALurM0NEY produced Q♣ 7♣ . Both players would hit a piece of the 9♣ 4♦ A♣ 7♥ 2♦ flop but STEALurM0NEY would whiff on the turn and river taking home $41,676.00 in fourth place.

Cool and collected gets it done

Immediately the final three went into negotiations mode as they took 10 minutes with the help of Team Online’s Ike Haxton to hash out the details below, leaving $10,000.00 for the winner:

pads1161 $94,000.57
RigasDinamo $79,060.80
mora7777 $75,331.00

Less mora

mora7777 wasted no time in trying to improve chip position after getting a minimum $16K boost from the three-way deal. Two hands after making the deal RigasDinamo would min-raise from the button as pads1161 called in the small blind and mora7777 shoved for 6.5 million. RigasDinamo folded but pads1161 made the call holding pocket sixes 6♣ 6♠ . mora7777 was racing with 10♦ J♥ and sprinted ahead with the flopped straight K♥ 9♣ Q♦ . Down to hitting a runner-runner boat or quads, pads1161 managed the former as a six hit the turn 6♦ and the pairing nine 9♥ on the river to send mora7777 off with $75,331.00 in third place.

Fight for the right to claim $10K

RigasDinamo argued for more money during the chop negotiations. But this time let the cards do the talking. After doubling through pads1161 with a turned straight, five hands later with a 25 million to 11.2 million chip lead, the river would bring that extra $10K to the Latvian.

Pocket aces got cracked twice tonight during the final table, and pads1161’s pocket kings K♦ K♥ would not fare any better. RigasDinamo’s A♣ Jâ™  found an ace on the river 9â™  3♦ 4♦ 2♥ A♦ to claim this week’s Sunday Warm-Up title and $89,060.80!
