Watching tonight’s final table of the $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-up was a reason to cheer for the underdog. Aldo2316 kept finding ways to dig out of a hole this evening while clawing up to the top. There seemed to be nothing the other players could do against this week’s champion as Aldo2316 collected the $106,446.00 up top. Read and watch the story below to see how Aldo2316 became a Sunday Major winner.

Halfway through the eighth hour of play the 3,390 player field was down to its final two settings and 18 players looking to claim this week’s title and the six-figure prize sitting up top.

JasonX85 was looking to claim a major title that nearly came to be in July. Finishing the Super Tuesday as the runner-up to Craig ‘mcc3991’ McCorkell’s victory, JasonX85 would come close again but walked away with less than a hundred thousand earning $2,034.00 in 16th place.

Last time we saw pinguinho, the Australian was looking to claim a TCOOP title in 2013’s Event #12, finishing up in fourth place for $4,309.99. Tonight, pinguinho’s exit was before the final table taking away $3,051.00 in 13th place as the remaining 12 players took a five minute break before starting the ninth hour of play.

Shortly after the break with the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 10K yutida would try to move in with 1.2 million chips from the small blind into superkid-bam’s big blind. Unfortunately, yutida’s 9♦ A♣ could not overcome superkid-bam’s big slick Aâ™  K♦ on the J♥ 4â™  2â™  5♣ 8♣ board finishing in 12th place ($4,068.00).

Kukoc69 would shoot an air ball in 11th place ($4,068.00) setting up hand-for-hand play which would see slinky81 survive and triple up a stack that was down to just over one BB. The triple-up was not the paved road towards a chip-and-a-chair story as five hands later ministerborg came back for those lost chips. With the blinds still at 50K/100K ante 10K ministerborg would min-raise from from the cutoff as slinky81 re-raised all-in for 494,958. Holding a couple of diamonds 7♦ K♦ ministerborg made the call facing slinky81’s A♣ 4♥ . The diamond grew into a turned flush 6♣ 10♦ 4♦ J♦ 9♥ and created the final table below:

Diego is the first to leave

Tonight’s final table would have a quick beginning with three eliminations in the first 15 minutes. With the blinds moving up to 65K/130K ante 13K lhennessey would lead with a raise to 301,000 as Aldo2316 called from the small blind. 1diego_35 squeezed with a shove for 1.86 million from the big blind as lhennessey gave up the chips in the middle. Aldo2316 did not by calling with J♣ K♦ , a little behind 1diego_35’s A♥ Qâ™  . The advantage would last until the turn as a board nearly full of clubs 8♣ K♣ A♣ 10♣ 7♦ showed up and sent 1diego_35 off in ninth place ($5,424.00).

Chips become part of the borg

On the next hand ministerborg had to quench a thirst for chips and found two willing players to help. Watch below as ministerborg chopped the population of the final table down by 25 percent:

Two aces went up against ministerborg’s ladies Q♣ Q♥ as No10Nostr8 A♥ K♣ and superkid-bam’s 10â™  A♣ failed to connect with the nine-high board 2♣ 8â™  7â™  5♥ 9♥ . Because of chip position preflop, superkid-bam collected $8,475.00 in eighth place and No10Nostr8 earned $15,255.00 in seventh. superkid-bam will be looking next week to match or exceed the third place and $68K earned at the SCOOP 2013 Event #10-H final table.

Cause of elimination: kicker problems

With the blinds moving up to 80K/160K ante 16K Andreas1603 would min-raise from first position on the six-handed table as lhennessey made the call from the button to see a bunch of hearts 8♥ 5♥ K♥ hit the flop. Andreas1603 checked as lhennessey liked the nut flush draw Q♦ A♥ enough to shove for 2.47 million and Andreas1603 with the lesser draw J♥ A♠ called all-in for 1.82 million. No jacks on the 3♣ turn nor the 2♠ river and Andreas1603 took away $22,035.00 in sixth place.

Aldo does the damage

After the burst of action in the first fifteen minutes the blinds would go up to 100K/200K ante 20K before another player would take leave. Aldo2316 raised it up to 800K as ministerborg unable to build on that massive 10 million chip pot from earlier would shove for 5.5 million from the small blind holding big slick K♠ A♥ . Aldo2316 holding a little less made the call all-in with K♦ 10♣ . After the small flop 9♠ 2♦ 7♦ it looked like ministerborg would return to the chip lead, but the Q♠ turn and J♥ river laid out a straight for Aldo2316 shipping the 11.2 million chips. Two hands later lhennessey would collect the scraps as ministerborg took home $28,815.00 in fifth place.

Another straight?!?!

Aldo2316’s elimination of ministerborg was not enough as four-handed play carried on for over twenty minutes before the chip leader came back in style. With the blinds now up to 150K/300K ante 30K Aldo2316’s stack shrunk to just six million calling the all-in four bet by lhennessey with Q♦ K♥ . Dominated once again and facing even longer odds this time against lhennessey’s pocket kings Kâ™  K♣ Aldo2316 needed to pull off another unlikely win. The river provided again as 2♦ 10â™  A♣ 10♦ Jâ™  the jack on the end shipped the 12.6 million chip pot to Aldo2316. Two hands later lhennessey would three-bet shove from the button with 2.54 million as Aldo2316 held the goods A♦ Q♣ making them stick against lhennessey’s 8â™  7â™  on the 8♥ Jâ™  Kâ™  4♣ 10♥ board with yet another rivered straight. lhennessey would limp away beaten in fourth place ($38,985.00).

Calling it a night

Just ten minutes later with the six-figures still sitting up top needdollarz would min-raise from the button as alexandr18ru called from the small blind and Aldo2316 firmly in the chip lead with 18.7 million three-bet to 2.49 million. needdollarz was happy to shove holding big slick K♣ A♦ as alexandr18ru folded but Aldo2316 hoping the lucky streak would continue, made the call with K♦ 9♦ . Despite flopping top pair, needdollarz would fall to nines on the bookends 9♠ 4♠ A♠ Q♠ 9♣ to earn $55,935.00 in third place.

The underdog champ

Aldo2316 would control the tempo of heads-up play bringing in a 24.7 million to 9.1 million chip lead and rushed alexandr18ru off the table in five hands. Watch below as the indestructible Aldo2316 becomes this week’s champ with yet another come from behind victory:

Kicker problems once again as Aldo2316 holding A♣ 8♣ would have to pull off another upset against alexandr18ru’s Jâ™  Aâ™  . This time it was not the river but the Q♦ 9♣ 6â™  8♦ A♥ turn that got Aldo2316 not only the 16.4 million chip pot but the $106,446.00 winner’s prize as this week’s Sunday Warm-Up champion!
