A new month brings another round of Super Tuesday action on PokerStars as a field of 367 players created a prize pool of $367,000 to be divided among the final 45 players. A Team PokerStars pro best known for his abilities in cash games decided to play tonight and almost made the final table, but the big winner on the night would be boris.bee, collecting nearly $65,000 after making a deal heads-up.

Team Nordics PokerStars pro Viktor “Isildur1” Blom is not known for his tournament play, playing tournaments sparingly on PokerStars. However, he decided to play tonight’s Super Tuesday, appearing as chip leader or near the top of the leaderboard late in the tournament. However, he’d lose a big hand to eventual runner-up jonwayne69 and fell to the short stack with 18 players remaining. Blom hung around with a couple of key double-ups, eventually cashing in 11th for $5,505.00 in a double elimination hand that played out as follows:

Besides Blom, several members of Team PokerStars participated in the Super Tuesday, including WSOP World Champions Chris “money800” Moneymaker, Joe “jcada99” Cada and Jonathan Duhamel, However, only Team PokerStars Online player Randy “nanonoko” Lew was the only other player to make the money, finishing in 27th place.

The final table bubble lasted just a couple of hands as Akademnuk wound up in 10th place. The blinds were at 1,800/3,600 with an ante of 450 as jokkee_apart min-raised from the button with A♣ 10â™  . Akademnuk re-raised to 46,800 from the small blind with Aâ™  8♦ , as jokkee_apart re-raised enough to put Akademnuk all in, as they called. The board ran out J♣ Q♣ 2â™  2♣ 7♣ to give jokkee_apart an unnecessary flush, as Akademnuk earned $5,505.00 as the field was down to the final nine players. Here’s how that final table was situated when action resumed:

4-5-11 Super Tuesday Final Table.JPG

Seat 1: krs4u (94,919 in chips)
Seat 2: Klebanov999 (64,410 in chips)
Seat 3: jonwayne69 (304,936 in chips)
Seat 4: jokkee_apart (291,634 in chips)
Seat 5: boris.bee (107,390 in chips)
Seat 6: Ryan “ryanbluf” Karp (368,197 in chips)
Seat 7: Jordan “Jymaster11” Young (112,083 in chips)
Seat 8: Paresh “Dana Gordon” Jain (394,400 in chips)
Seat 9: Hafiz “hafizzle” Khan (97,031 in chips)

Klebanov999 started the final table as the short stack, and would lead the eventual parade of eliminations earning $6,422.50 for finishing in 9th place. The blinds were now at 2,000/4,000 with an ante of 500 as Klebanov999 open-shoved for 40,960 from UTG with A♣ Q♦ . Next to act was jonwayne69, waking up with K♦ K♣ , making a raise to get everyone else to fold. The flop sealed Klebanov999’s hopes: 9♦ 8♣ Kâ™  as the 6♦ on the turn left him drawing dead. The river was the 9â™  , for those interested in the hand history with 8 players remaining.

2008 PCA Main Event runner-up Hafiz “hafizzle” Khan would pocket $8,808.00 for 8th place (there’s been a lot of 8’s in this sentence). The blinds were now at 2,400/4,800 with an ante of 600 as Khan opened with a raise to 10,900. Action folded to jokkee_apart, re-raising to 24,500. Khan four-bet to 43,200 as jokkee_apart made the call. The flop came down Q♦ 4â™  5♦ as Khan lead out for 48,000 as jokkee_apart made the call. The turn brought the prettiest card in the deck, if this was a real deck, Aâ™  . Khan appeared to really like that card, moving in for 135,324. Also liking that card was jokkee_apart, calling with A♣ 3â™  . That wasn’t the action Khan was hoping for, as he only held 10♥ 6♣ , meaning he was now drawing dead. The 10♣ on the river was of no use, leaving a septet at the final table.

Three hands later, it would be Jordan “Jymaster11” Young’s turn to exit the final table, picking up $12,478 for 7th place. Action folded around to boris.bee, raising to 10,600 with A♦ K♦ . Young re-raised all in for 115,426 from the button with A♣ 9♥ . The flop left little hope for Young, coming down A♥ Q♦ K♥ . Hopes for a miracle soon vanished for Young when the Aâ™  arrived on the turn as the 10♦ on the river left a six-pack of players playing for over the expected first place winnings of over $71,000.

The next player knocked out would be Paresh “Dana Gordon” Jain, as his 6th place result meant $16,148.00 would be added to his tournament results. The blinds were now at 2,800/5,600 with the ante at 700 as jokkee_again would straighten out Jain on the river:

The latest victim of jokkee_apart’s wrath at the final table was krs4u, as their 5th place finish was good for $20,919.00. The action now featured blinds of 3,200/6,400 with an ante of 800 as krs4u min-raised from the button with 8♣ 6♥ . From the big blind, jokkee_apart called with J♥ 9â™  . The first three cards dealt were the 8♥ 9♥ 5♥ giving both players a pair and a flush draw, with krs4u needing the 7♥ to make a straight flush. After a check from jokkee_apart, krs4u bet 14,550 as jokkee_apart re-raised to 43,500. A three-bet was forthcoming from krs4u to 88,888 as jokkee_apart moved all-in as krs4u called for their tournament life. The 5♦ turn and 10♦ river changed nothing as jokkee_apart had over 1,100,000 in chips with four players remaining.

The other players wanted to get into the act of eliminating a player, as boris.bee would dispatch Ryan “ryanbluf” Karp in 4th place to be awarded $30,277.50. Blinds were increased once again to 3,600/7,200 with an ante of 900 as boris.bee min-raised from the button with A♦ A♥ . Karp re-raised all in for 139,068 holding Qâ™  Jâ™  as boris.bee snap-called. Karp would pick up outs on the turn, but after the board was dealt out: 3♦ 7♥ K♦ 10â™  K♣ he’d be wondering how soon jokkee_apart would wrap up this title holding over half the chips in play.

However, jokkee_apart would start to fall apart, as a pair of hands went the wrong way. First, his 5♦ 5♥ was up against jonwayne69’s A♣ 9♦ and with one card to come it appeared heads-up was about to take place. However, the 9â™  on the river kept jonwayne69 in the fight while jokkee_apart remained well ahead of the field. Now it was boris.bee’s turn to double up, taking A♣ Q♣ against jokkee_apart’s J♣ J♥ . This time the player behind would move ahead on the flop as an Aâ™  on the flop and a Q♥ on the turn meant boris.bee was now the chip leader as jokkee_apart fell to 3rd.

Third would be the finishing position for jokkee_apart as the wheels completely fell off, earning a surely disappointing $40,370.00. The blinds were now at 4,000/8,000 with an ante of 1,000 as jokkee_apart min-raised from the button with A♠ 2♥ . In the big blind, jonwayne69 re-raised to 40,000 with A♦ 9♥ as jokkee_apart re-raised all in for 340,399 as jonwayne69 called. The flop gave jonwayne69 top pair on a 7♦ 6♠ 9♦ board, leaving jokkee_apart hoping for runner-runner deuces. In this case, deuces loses as the turn and river were the J♠ 5♦ to bring the field down to just two as jonwayne69 held the chip lead.

The two remaining players decided to make a deal, originally deciding to split the money evenly, until boris.bee decided that each take $60,000 with the remaining $4,229.50 going to the winner. That decision would turn out to work best for boris.bee as he won most of the hands heads-up, including this hand to take a commanding lead:

It was only a matter of time before boris.bee collected the rest of the chips, to take down the adjusted first place winnings of $64,229.50. Blinds were now up to 4,500/9,000 with an ante of 1,125 as boris.bee opened with a min-raise with A♣ 6♦ . Wasting no time, jonwayne69 shipped in his remaining 173,527 in chips with A♥ J♣ as boris.bee called. The flop brought to the center Q♥ 5♠ 7♥ as the turn brought the 8♣ , giving boris.bee an open-ended straight draw along with the three remaining sixes to win. The river was kind to jonwayne69 to stay alive, but not for the final hand as the 9♦ on the river meant sweet victory for boris.bee while jonwayne69 would have to show true grit accepting the $60,000 for his 2nd place finish.
