Home / Uncategorized / Super Tuesday: Fepoker20 dodges, ducks, dips, dives, dodges to $69K win (10-10-17)

Coming from behind to win at a final table is never easy. Whether it’s hitting a river card to stay alive after a bad flop or picking up a big pocket pair at a key moment, a lot of things need to go right for a short stack. But sometimes those things do go right. Sometimes they then keep going right.

That’s what happened for Fepoker20 in the Super Tuesday tonight. The Brazilian arrived with the second-shortest stack and hit multiple perfect river cards to stay alive in the early going. As the table shortened Fepoker20 was still in desperation mode, but a few pocket pairs later the Brazilian was heads-up for the title, and locked up an unlikely win after a single coin flip.

This week’s field was nearly identical to last week’s, with just one less player turning up for a shot at nearly $70K up top. After just under nine hours of poker they’d been reduced to ten players, and peterwhooo’s departure on the bubble set up a final table with some familiar names:

Super-Tuesday-10-10-17-ft.jpg

Seat 1: Timonpoika (471,851 in chips)
Seat 2: Nicolau “nicofellow” Villa-Lobos (1,529,857 in chips)
Seat 3: L1VeYRdrEamS (2,339,535 in chips)
Seat 4: Aaron “AaronBeen” Been (785,500 in chips)
Seat 5: Akash “funwheel” Majumdar (1,653,901 in chips)
Seat 6: Proudflop (701,858 in chips)
Seat 7: Fepoker20 (620,422 in chips)
Seat 8: FerMorhy (675,389 in chips)
Seat 9: Mariah DOM (671,687 in chips)

Mariah DOM’s final table stay didn’t last long. The Brazilian re-raised all-in for 583,687 just a few hands in, holding 6♥ 6♦ , over the top of countryman FerMorhy’s 57,000-chip opener. FerMorhy was the lone caller with 10â™  10♣ , which held up to bust Mariah DOM in ninth.

FerMorhy picked up 10â™  10♦ again a few minutes later, this time in the big blind, and doubled to 1.15 million against past SCOOP-Medium champ Akash “funwheel” Majumdar’s 8â™  8♥ on the button. Losing with Aâ™  K♣ to AaronBeen’s K♦ K♥ dropped the Brazilian back down under 20 big blinds, but 20 minutes later FerMorhy’s 4â™  4♣ held against AaronBeen’s A♦ K♣ for a measure of reversal.

AaronBeen, who won this tournament back in August, immediately turned things around on the next hand. He re-raised all-in with 10♦ 10♠ after Timonpoika, the past Sunday Million and TCOOP champ who finished runner-up to tablemate L1VeYRdrEamS in the Milly back in May, opened with 8♦ 8♠ . Timonpoika called, no eight hit the board, and the Finn left in eighth.

The table remained seven-handed into the next hour, when the blinds and antes advanced to 20,000/40,000/4,000. Fepoker20 remained on life support and made a desperate play with K♦ 8♦ , re-raising all-in from the small blind over Proudflop’s button min-raise. Proudflop called with A♥ 6♥ but lost out on the 1.04-million-chip pot thanks to the K♣ on the river.

One orbit later Proudflop would be sunk by another king on the river. After limping on the button with 9♠ 7♠ , Proudflop bet when checked to with two pair on the 7♥ 4♥ 9♥ flop and 10♠ turn. Proudflop shoved when checked to on the K♠ river, only to leave in seventh when Fepoker20 showed down K♦ 9♦ for kings and nines.

AaronBeen’s bid for a second Super Tuesday title in 2017 ended 20 minutes later. He raised all-in for 807,575 in the big blind with Kâ™  10â™  after L1VeYRdrEamS limped from the small blind. L1VeYRdrEamS called the raise with K♣ K♥ , which stayed ahead to bust AaronBeen in sixth.

That win gave L1VeYRdrEamS a 20-big-blind lead over Fepoker20, an advantage that grew minutes later after L1VeYRdrEamS limped on the button with 10♠ 8♣ . funwheel check-raised all-in for 647,550 chips on the 2♠ 7♥ 9♠ flop, holding 10♥ 6♠ for a gutshot draw, and L1VeYRdrEamS was the only caller. Both players made a spade flush after the 4♠ turn and J♠ river and funwheel, owner of the smaller flush, left in fifth.

Winning those two pots gave L1VeYRdrEamS almost half the chips in play, with a 20-big-blind spread separating the other three players. That balance was thrown off by a confrontation between Fepoker20 and former SCOOP champ and Sunday Million runner-up Nicolau “nicofellow” Villa-Lobos.

Nicofellow re-raised to 402,375 from the big blind after Fepoker20 opened with a small button raise. Fepoker20 moved in for 2.3 million and then showed J♦ J♣ , when nicofellow called with Aâ™  A♥ . nicofellow looked set to take the pot but the J♥ hit the river, giving Fepoker20 the lead with 4.67 million chips. Nicofellow called all-in for less than two big blinds on the following hand with A♥ Q♥ and left in fourth when FerMorhy’s J♣ Jâ™  held up.

Three-handed play featured plenty of action, much of it driven by L1VeYRdrEamS. But Fepoker20 reclaimed the lead with K♣ K♥ , which made a full house on the river of an Aâ™  7â™  8♥ 7♦ K♦ board in a heads-up pot with L1VeYRdrEamS. The Canadian was still in great shape despite the loss, but Fepoker20 would retain the lead from there until L1VeYRdrEamS’s bid to win both the Super Tuesday and Sunday Million in the same year finally came to an end. Fepoker20 opened the hand in question for 177,777 chips with K♦ Kâ™  on the button and then moved all-in after L1VeYRdrEamS re-raised from the small blind with Aâ™  K♣ . Fepoker20 called and won with kings and sevens after the board fell 2♥ 7â™  7♣ 3♣ 3â™  , ending L1VeYRdrEamS’s tournament in third.

The two Brazilians held brief talks about a potential deal but the negotiations didn’t work out. After 15 minutes they got down to settling the tournament by the cards.

FerMorhy had a lot of ground to make up and moved all-in plenty, but couldn’t find a way to get Fepoker20 to come along. Then FerMorhy opened all-in with 8♣ 8â™  and Fepoker20 called with Kâ™  Q♣ . A gutshot draw on the Jâ™  A♣ 6♦ flop became a pair of kings on the K♦ turn, and the 2♦ river sealed the deal on Fepoker20’s victory.

Congratulations to Fepoker20, who played the role of survivor perfectly en route to the big win!
