A few months ago we watched Jonas “llJaYJaYll” Lauck take down one of the largest prizes of the year at PokerStars, the World Championship of Online Poker Main Event for over $1.5 million. During that epic run, he was looking up uknowProsky* entering that final table. Despite the massive chip lead, uknowProsky* would end up in seventh as Lauck claimed the prize. The 2017 Turbo Championship of Online Poker Event #52 $700 buy-in NLHE Progressive KO (33%) found these two in a similar starting position as before.

But, this time Lauck would run out of luck in fifth place and uknowProsky*’s aggressiveness was overcome in fourth. Timonpoika, a Sunday Million winner, would steer carefully through the carnage to claim the title and $79,686.24 after chopping heads-up with Zufall84.

As we pick up play four hours and 30 minutes into Event #52, only two tables of nine remained from a starting field of 846 (with 193 re-entries). Among those surviving and still thriving, Sunday Million champ Timonpoika was looking to notch a -COOP title and contend for the PokerStars Grand Slam. Reigning World Championship of Online Poker Main Event champ Jonas “llJaYJaYll” Lauck looked to be in the driver’s seat holding the most chips with 15 players left.

While the reward for winning this tournament ($75,571.66) is a little less than Lauck hauled in September, it is not exactly beer money either. Former TCOOP winner Fukururu’s queens would not allow the Ukrainian to continue for a second title, finishing in 15th place.

While Lauck kept status quo on one table uknowProsky* was rolling up a huge stack, breaking the two and three million chip barriers with blinds at 20K/40K ante 5K going into hand-for-hand play. Only two hands were necessary for Ruppert80 to three-bet shove 295,414 holding K♦ A♦ . Unfortunately, it was bad timing as the initial raiser, greeny2610, quickly called with aces A♠ A♣ . A shot at a broadway straight was denied 10♣ 8♣ 7♥ J♠ 3♦ as the final table opened up below:

The chip leader, uknowProsky*, greeted Lauck as a “nitbag” to the table as the two seemed to have a history together. If you go back to last year’s WCOOP main event, it was uknowProsky* coming into the final table with a large chip lead. At the start of that final table uknowProsky* had Lauck outchipped nearly four to one, here that ratio was three to one as uknowProsky* once again will start with a big lead.

It would take uknowProsky* three hands to assert that leaving with anything besides the title was unacceptable. With the blinds moving up to 25K/50K ante 6,250 uknowProsky* would apply pressure by open shoving from the small blind. Apr27, holding 332,846 chips left, woke up with K♥ A♦ and gladly called, dominating uknowProsky*’s K♠ 6♦ . A little big stack luck hit the river 9♠ 2♦ 9♥ 2♣ 6♥ sending apr27 away in ninth place ($6,297.54+$1,565.50 in bounties).

Shortly after the hourly break as the blinds rose to 30K/60K ante 7.5K kawachi1984, the 2016 WCOOP event #44 winner, would shove 465,519 from UTG as Zufall84 re-shoved next door with A♠ J♠ . It would fold around as kawachi1984’s chances for a second -COOP title was slim holding J♣ K♣ . No kings nor enough clubs on the 6♦ 7♦ 3♦ 9♣ 4♣ board would send kawachi1984 away in eighth place ($8,591.52+$3,456.56).

Déjà vu all over again? Lauck’s stack would chip down a bit and uknowProsky* went after the opportunity to knock out the nemesis. But, queen-ten was no match for Lauck’s ace-king as the WCOOP Main Event champ started to pick up some steam with the 1.7 million chip pot.

Greeny2610 would get in the way of that steam five hands later. With the blinds going up to 35K/70K ante 8,750 greeny2610 would shove for 651,998 chips as Lauck three-bet enough from the small blind to get Timonpoika to fold. Queens Q♥ Q♣ for Lauck as greeny2610 turned over K♥ A♥ . The flip would go Lauck’s way as the all-low 6♠ 8♠ 2♦ 4♦ 3♦ board sent greeny2610 home in seventh place ($11,721.11+$6,241.20).

15 minutes later as the blinds moved to 60K/120K ante 15K Kley would shove from the button for 834,639 as uknowProsky*, still holding the chip lead, would make the call with A♥ 6♣ . Kley’s suited connector 9♦ 10♦ flopped a world outs with the open-ended straight flush draw. But, failed to outpace uknowProsky*’s ace-high 8♦ 7♦ 4♣ K♠ 7♣ earning $15,990.69+$5,261.04 in sixth place.

Would history repeat itself? Not this time.

A few minutes after Kley left, the two players linked from the WCOOP Main Event would battle it out once again. With the blinds up to 80K/160K ante 20K Lauck would open shove for 1.73 million holding 10♠ A♥ as it folded all the way around to uknowProsky* waiting to call with sevens 7♦ 7♥ in the big blind. 3.6 million chips in the pot as uknowProsky*’s pocket pair managed to eliminate the hurdle from a major title last time, ending Lauck’s run in fifth place ($21,815.50+$6,300.08).

Now holding nearly half the chips in play, uknowProsky* would quickly press that lead winning the next five hands in a row. Zufall84 was having none of that and doubled-up twice in row off uknowProsky* to knock the chip-leader down a few notches. Then did it again five hands later bring uknowProsky* and Zufall84 nearly even in chips.

This sequence started the quick fall of uknowProsky* as Timonpoika would stand up to the bully on the next hand as uknowProsky* tried to squeeze the blinds with five-four as Timonpoika’s big slick managed to hold for a 4.69 million chip pot. Left with under a million chips uknowProsky* was not about to shift gears and called all-in under Zufall84’s initial push on the next hand with pocket sevens 7♠ 7♦ . The sevens towered over Zufall84’s fives 5♦ 5♠ until flopped quads 5♥ 8♣ 5♣ 6♥ Q♥ abruptly ended uknowProsky*’s tournament in fourth place ($29,762.12+$12,650.40).

Over the next few hands, Timonpoika would poach many of those chips from Zufall84 taking over the chip lead as Zufall84 was left to battle krakukra. Krakukra came in looking to add a TCOOP title to the 2015 WCOOP Event #68 8-Game win but would need help on this hand. With the blinds at 100K/200K ante 25K Zufall84 shoved for 1.97 million with pocket nines 9♥ 9♦ as krakukra liked the ace A♠ 4♥ enough to make the call. Neither player was helped by the two pair on the board 8♦ 8♣ K♦ K♥ 3♦ . On the next hand krakukra would surrender the remaining 151K in chips to Zufall84 as well earning $40,490.25+$2,365.56 in third place.

Immediately Zufall84 offered a deal and immediately Timonpoika was willing to listen. The five-minute interlude would take longer than actual heads-up play as the two took the following deal leaving a shade over $9K left for the winner:

Timonpoika: $61,277.86
Zufall84: $60,474.95

As mentioned, heads-up play copied the speedy theme of the TCOOP and finished in six hands. With the blinds raising to 120K/240K ante 30K and Timonpoika holding a 7.24 million to 3.14 million lead, Zufall84 would min-raise from the button. Timonpoika felt like ending this and shoved with pocket deuces 2♥ 2♦ . Zufall84’s A♥ 6♣ would fall short 9♠ Q♦ 10♦ 4♣ J♦ as Timonpoika now owns a TCOOP title next to the Sunday Million win, earning a total of $79,686.24!
