TCOOP 2017: Vamos! Brazil’s IneedMassari wins another COOP and binks Event #51 $82 Limit Hold’em

January 27, 2017

Brazilians do not need much of an excuse to initiate a celebration, but João ‘IneedMassari’ Simão is going to have a little extra fun this weekend after winning TCOOP Event #51. IneedMassari notched yet another TCOOP title for Brazil, which makes at the least six TCOOPs this series.

IneedMassari defeated AA-Clown heads-up for the win in TCOOP Event #51. AA-Clown was one of two Dutch players at the table, including 2005 EPT Grand Final Champion and 2003 WCOOP champ Rob ‘batoelrob’ Hollink. But neither could hold off another scintillating run by the Brazilians.

IneedMassari is a SCOOP win away from a Triple COOP

This victory also marks at least two COOP wins for IneedMassari. The Brazilian shipped a WCOOP in 2010 and after winning TCOOP Event #51, he’s only one SCOOP win away from winning a rare Triple COOP. IneedMassari faded a treacherous field of no-limit players to win his first WCOOP. This instance, he faded a field of limit hold’em players to earn his second COOP crown.

Limit Hold’em. Good ole L-H-E. Limit seems like a relic of the past. Like 8-tracks, cassettes and fondue parties. A lot of beginner poker players initially learned the basic rules of hold’em by playing limit. Many of them got their first taste of live poker at a limit table. Limit hold’em is old school. You do not see many Limit Hold’em tournament these days because the high-risk/high-reward factor of no limit is arguably the much more popular and wilder sibling. If hold’em were the Beatles, then John Lennon is No Limit and unfortunately Ringo is Limit Hold’em.

2017 TCOOP Event #51 $82 Limit Hold’em, 6-Max attracted 910 total entries with 783 initial runners and 127 re-entries. Only the top 107 places paid out of the prize pool worth $68,250.00. First place earned a pay day worth $11,381.63.

With seven remaining and action hand-for-hand, Super short-stacked omenfurnace attempted to double up with 10♥2♣ against batoelrob’s A♠9♦. Holland’s batoelrob flopped top two pair and won the pot. The U.K.’s omenfurnace bubbled off the final table in seventh place.

This final table featured two of the premier players from their respective countries with IneedMassari one of the most successful Brazilian players and the legendary Rob Hollink from the Netherlands.

João ‘IneedMassari’ Simão won over $4.7 million online. That’s a staggering amount for the young Brazilian. He first made a name for himself back in 2010, when he won his first-ever WCOOP for a five figures score. He also won nearly $700K in live tournaments too, with a side event win at the 2015 PCA in the Bahamas.

Rob ‘batoelrob’ Hollink won a WCOOP back in 2003. Yes, talk about a blast from the past! In 2005, Hollink made history when won the first-ever EPT Grand Finale in Monte Carlo. Hollink beat American Brandon Schaefer heads-up for an $845K score to end the inaugural season of the European Poker Tour.

Canada’s tunnny once won the Super Tuesday back in 2011.
