For the 98 players who returned today the aim was simple – make the money. They knew they couldn’t win the tournament on Day 2, but as 78 players found out, you could definitely lose it. To use a poker phrase play today had many gears. It took six and a half hours to reach the bubble, but just one hand to burst it. Marco Adams the unfortunate player when his Aâ™  Qâ™  lost out to Calin Furdui’s pocket tens.

The man who accelerated through the gears most successfully today was David Torok, from Hungary. He bagged up a mammoth 800,500 chips to take the chip lead into the final day. He’d been all in and at risk an hour before the bubble holding A♦ J♦ and held against Jakub Ratulowski’s K♦ Q♥ . After that he seemingly won every pot he played.

The triumvirate of Torok, Antonio Dieguez Rodriguez and Jaroslav Urban were well clear of the chasing pack during the last two levels but Troak won a 520,000 pot with 15 minutes left to play to pull clear of his two rivals. His pocket sevens holding to eliminate Roman Kadziela, who had A♣ J♣ , the two of them had been sparring, it had been coming.

Chip leader David Torok

Jaroslav Urban was the chip leader from Day 1A and second overall heading into play today. It’s a spot he’s getting used to as with 629,500 he’s just behind Troak heading into tomorrow. The Czech was always above average today and his key hand saw him turn the nut fiush against Calin Furdui’s second nut flush.

Jaroslav Urban – spent a lot of the day stacking chips and opponents

Antonio Dieguez Rodriguez, was the sole Spaniard in this tournament and he’s doing his country proud. For much of the latter part of the day it looked as if he’d take the chip lead into the final today. He led the field when the bubble burst and going into the final level. He’s been an entertaining spectacle to watch today, whilst never over stepping the mark.

Rodriquez celebrates winning a pot

The British had a strong contingent coming back to day two but Keith Johnson was the only player from the United Kingdom to make it through. He was flying for most of the day, even winning a pot with seven high and entered the last level in the top five in chips. A bad last hour saw him end with 104,000, he’ll be coming back 19th out of 20.

It was a tale of ace-king gone wrong for the others, James Keys busting with it against pocket kings and Mitch Johnson busting to it when holding A♠ Q♥ .
