UKIPT Coventry: Day 2, level 20 (blinds 6,000-12,000, ante 1,000)

April 10, 2010

2.05am: Done for the day
With just two minutes left to play for the night we did indeed lose a player. Joe Lucas shoved all-in for 187,000 and it folded to small blind Gilles Augustus who deliberated for a minute and made the call. Big blind Ben Dobson got out the way. On their backs.

Lucas: A♠10♥
Augustus A♣J♦

Understandably a crowd gathered including UKIPT tournament director and consultant Toby Stone. The flop came A♥8♣8♥. The turn was the Q♦ and almost in unison Stone and a few other spectators went ‘split pot’ the dealer though had other ideas as the Q♣ river meant Augustus’ jack kicker played.

Dan Carter is the chip leader with 1.4m. –NW

3.05am: Play is stopping after all
The structure’s just too good it seems. We can’t get an 11th player knocked out so we’re going to stop at the end of this level, which is in just a few minutes. We’ll get fresh chip counts for you as soon as we can. — RD

3am: Carter’s put golf on hold
Chip leader Dan Carter was meant to play golf tomorrow. Looks like that’s going to have to be put on hold. There has been a few all-ins but no calls as of yet. It’s tense stuff and someone is bound to make a mistake soon. — NW

2.45am: Still one to go
The most likely player to fall is Joe Lucas who is sat on 140,000. It’s not much in the grand scheme of things but where there is a chair and some chips anything can happen. That said it’s fairly unlikely that Dan Carter will be the final table bubble. He’s got over one million chips. — RD

2.35am: A little light relief
Here’s Mr Nick Wealthall rooting through the PokerStars giveaway bags. Here it comes…

2.20am: Anthony Kennedy is out in 12th for £2,500
Kennedy shoves with J♥9♠ for 24,000. Ben Dobson raises to isolate to 55,000 with A♣7♥. Kennedy just misses out on the final table and there is just one player left to fall before play breaks for the day. — RD

2.20am: Down to a dozen
Ben Sweetman has been eliminated by Dave Jones. Dan Carter opened under the gun, Sweetman moved all-in from the small blind and Jones moved all-in over the top from the big blind.

Sweetman A♦Q♦
Jones 10♣10♠

The board a ooh-tastic A♣Q♣3♣6♣[x]. –NW

2.15am:Sweetman is out
Details to come. — RD
