What’s better than Pot Limit Omaha Action? PLO with rebuys might do it. That’s what Event 43 of this PokerStars WCOOP series had to offer as one of its September 19th tournaments, and players were plenty happy about it.

The guarantee for Event 43 was cautiously set at $350,000, but once the final numbers were in, the prize pool smashed that guarantee.

Players: 593
Rebuys: 791
Add-ons: 415
Prize pool: $539,700
Paid players: 78

Action moved the tournament right along on Monday, and the money bubble eventually burst so the final 78 players could be paid. And the first one to take home $1,565.13 was PokerStars Team Online’s Jorge “twin-caracas” Arias for 78th place.

As the payouts continued, Team PokerStars Pros Richard Toth and Toni Judet exited in 62nd and 60th place, respectively. Team Online’s Diego “vgreen22” Brunelli left in 48th place, and the player bearing the PokerStars logo was Team Online’s Keiran “K-Man2307” Harris of Australia, who departed in 45th place and is pictured here:

The final two tables were well underway in the 12th hour of the tournament, and the elimination of Odd_Oddsen in eighth place launched hand-for-hand action. It went on for more than 20 minutes, then paused for a 15-minute break, and resumed for another five minutes.

It was then that jsoucy and Messiah55 got involved to see a 8♣ K♠ 5♥ flop. Messiah55 bet, and jsoucy raised all-in for more than 1 million chips with 10♣ 10♠ 8♠ 5♦ . Messiah55 called with K♦ K♣ Q♠ 7♥ , and the set of kings turned into quads when the K♥ hit on the turn. The J♣ on the river finished it and eliminated jsoucy in seventh place for $11,279.73.

Messiah55 leads the people (well, the final table, at least)

Level 32 brought players to the final table, with blinds of 15,000/30,000 and starting chip counts as follows:

Seat 1: Messiah55 (2,779,032 in chips)
Seat 2: PickyTooth (688,184 in chips)
Seat 3: LenaKab (1,441,436 in chips)
Seat 4: L.O_4cus (1,340,338 in chips)
Seat 5: Tsubi87 (2,047,222 in chips)
Seat 6: HonestPete (1,736,288 in chips)

It took awhile for a big hand to develop, but it did happen when PickyTooth doubled through LenaKab. Chips started changing hands at a fairly solid pace, especially when HonestPete and Tsubi87 both took pots worth over 1 million chips from Messiah55 to knock the latter to the bottom of the chip stacks.

After a half hour of play, LenaKab was the short stack and L.O_4cus, who managed a double-up, jumped into the chip lead with over 2.5 million chips.

When PickyTooth doubled through Messiah55, the latter was in a position to move sooner rather than later. Four hands later, Messiah55 got involved with HonestPete to see a 3♥ 5♥ Q♠ flop. Messiah55 pushed all-in for 169,331 chips holding K♣ 10♥ J♥ 4♣ , and HonestPete called with A♣ Q♥ 9♥ 7♦ . The pair of queens held up and added deuces when the last two cards came 2♦ and 2♣ , and Messiah55 went from chip leader to the first out at the table, taking home $16,784.67 for sixth place.

Three hands after that, LenaKab got into a preflop raising war with HonestPete that resulted in LenaKab calling all-in with Q♦ Q♠ 8♠ 6♣ . HonestPete showed K♠ K♣ Q♣ 7♣ , and the pair of kings remained the best hand as the board came J♣ 7♠ 9♦ 6♥ 3♠ . LenaKab departed in fifth place with $26,985.00.

L.O_4cus then moved all-in preflop with K♥ K♣ 10♥ 3♠ from the small blind, and original raiser HonestPete called with A♥ J♦ 8♥ 5♠ . The board came J♣ 2♣ J♥ 9♣ 6♠ to give HonestPete trip jacks and eliminate L.O_4cus in fourth place with $37,779.00.

The burst of energy at the table continued, as only two hands later, PickyTooth pushed all-in preflop with A♣ A♦ 4♠ 3♦ . HonestPete again made the call, this time with A♠ K♣ 10♠ 9♠ . Honesty must pay off because the board delivered 6♠ 6♣ 8♣ 10♥ 7♠ to give HonestPete the straight. PickyTooth left in third place with $55,319.25.

Honestly, HonestPete controlled heads-up play

The final two players started their battle with these chip stacks:

Seat 5: Tsubi87 (2,972,194 in chips)
Seat 6: HonestPete (7,060,306 in chips)

Though HonestPete came out quite aggressively and increased his lead, Tsubi87 took some back and regained starting status after a few rounds.

As Tsubi87 lost ground, there was a life-saving double-up to keep things moving:

Soon after, Tsubi87 made another move. The hand started with a raise from Tsubi87 and reraise from HonestPete, and the flop came 2♦ 7♠ J♣ . HonestPete bet, and Tsubi87 raised all-in with Q♥ 10♣ 9♠ 2♠ . HonestPete showed K♠ K♥ Q♦ J♥ , and the kings held up to the 6♦ turn and 3♣ river. Tsubi87 had to settle for second place and the $75,558.00 that went with it.

HonestPete won Event 43, and the reward was prestige, a WCOOP gold bracelet, and $102,543.00 in cash. Congrats!
