Find out how you can win your way into WCOOP 2021 without breaking the bank.
Winning a World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) title is every online poker player’s dream and there are a few special reasons why this is the perfect year to take down your first.
Firstly, it’s the 20th anniversary of the most prestigious online tournament series in poker and to celebrate, PokerStars has made it the biggest and best yet. There’s $100,805,000 (yep, you read all those zeros correctly) in guaranteed prize pools across 102 events–the first time the series guarantee has surpassed $100 million–and that amount takes WCOOP’s total prize pools across 20 years above $1 billion.
Secondly, it’s the first WCOOP since PokerStars launched its Prestige Badges. You might have noticed them on the tables throughout 2021 and if you did, you probably longed for a WCOOP badge of your own. Win an event this year and you’ll not only get yourself a badge, but also an exclusive WCOOP trophy (every winner gets one) plus the prize money, of course.
And finally, there have never been more ways to win your way into WCOOP via satellites without breaking the bank. That means whether your bankroll is $5, $50, $500 or $5,000, you can still take a seat in the biggest events of the series for a fraction of the entry fee.
Here’s your complete guide to WCOOP satellites.
The Road to WCOOP promotion simply requires you to opt-in and then do what you’re probably going to do anyway: play poker.
Here’s how it works.
First, opt-in and choose a task from the list (there are tasks for high, medium and low bankrolls). To do this, go to Challenges in the PokerStars Lobby and select Road to WCOOP.
Once you’ve selected your task, you just need to play poker between Sunday and Saturday (00:00 ET to 23:59 ET) to earn points. When you earn enough points to meet your target, you’ll win a ticket into a weekly WCOOP prize draw every Sunday at 00:00 ET.
You can check if you’ve won WCOOP tickets by referring to either your Challenges or your ‘My Games and Tickets’ in the Tools section.
Fear not: If you haven’t won a WCOOP ticket in that week’s draw you’ll automatically win an Ambassador Freeroll ticket. In that freeroll, there will be $200K worth of WCOOP tickets up for grabs, plus juicy bounties for knocking out PokerStars Ambassadors.
The Road to WCOOP has already started, but you can join in at any time over the next four weeks.
If you could pick one tournament to play on the WCOOP schedule–aside from the $25K Super High Roller, of course–it would probably be the $5,200 Main Event with its $10M guarantee.
But you don’t need a hefty bankroll to play it. You can win your way into one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year for just a buck with the WCOOP Fast Track, paved with $1M worth of WCOOP tickets.
Here’s how it works.
Players can qualify for the Main Events by participating in up to four daily ‘Steps’ tournaments.
Step 1 – $1 Sit & Go Tournament (12 players) – 1x Step 2 ticket
Step 2 – $11 Sit & Go Tournament (21 players) – 2x Step 3 tickets
Step 3 – $109 Multi-Table Tournament – 2 Step 4 tickets guaranteed
Step 4 – $1,050 Multi-Table Tournament – 3 $5,200 Main Event tickets guaranteed
If you win at one Step, you’ll receive a ticket to the next. You’ll then find your shiny new ticket under ‘Tournament Tickets’ in ‘My Stars’. You don’t have to start at $1 if you’d rather skip ahead as players can buy in directly at any Step, including Step 4.
Click the ‘Fast Track’ tab in the WCOOP 2021 Lobby for events.
Special WCOOP Spin & Go’s are running right now and will be right through the series.
With buy-ins of $1.50, $4 and $22, you can win cash prizes or tournament tickets right up to the $5,200 Main Event High, which takes place on Sunday, September 12.
You can play unlimited WCOOP Spin & Go’s but you’ll only be eligible to win one $5,200 WCOOP Main Event entry. The first entry you win will automatically register you for the event (so don’t show up late!) and if you’re able to win a second, it will be transferred to T$ (tournament money).
Best of luck in the spins!
Sometimes you won’t know which events you want to try and satellite into until the day of the event. When that happens, don’t worry: there’s always time to win your way in.
While full satellite schedules for each of the 102 WCOOP events have yet to be added to the PokerStars client, rest assured that every event will have MTT and Sit & Go satellites with entries guaranteed in the prize pools in the days leading up to it.
Before that time comes, perhaps you’d like to brush up on your satellite strategy.
