EPT PRAGUE WRAPS UP

The PokerStars Blog team is now home for the holidays, but for the past 12 days we’ve been planted at the Atrium Casino in the Hilton Hotel bringing you live coverage from the European Poker Tour (EPT) stop in Prague.

Matthias Eibinger: A new Super High Roller monster

We kicked things off with the €50K Super High Roller, attracting 40 of the game’s best. It was 25-year-old Matthias Eibinger who took it down for €653K, bringing his 2018 earnings up to $5 million.

Then we settled in for the six-day €5,300 Main Event. This was the biggest EPT Prague Main ever, with 1,174 total entries.

Paul Michaelis: Last EPT champion of 2018

Our champion (and #PlatinumPass winner) in the end was Germany’s Paul Michaelis, who defeated a final table including Parker “tonkaaaap” Talbot to win €840K after a three-handed deal.

Finally, we closed it out with the €10K High Roller. This one got 259 total entries, and created a stacked final table including defending champion Danny Tang, Daniel Dvoress, Michael Addamo, and former EPT Main Event winner Jasper Meijer Van Putten.

Henrik Hecklen: Champion

The heads-up between Ole Schemion and Henrik Hecklen lasted three hours, before Hecklen closed it out to claim his first flagship EPT title for €503K.

KURGANOV’S $756K SUPER HIGH ROLLER BOWL SCORE

PokerStars Team Pro Igor Kurganov reached the final table of the prestigious $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl on Tuesday night, continuing his incredible month.

Kurganov would ultimately fall in sixth place, but received a $756,000 consolation prize. It was Isaac Haxton who emerged victorious from the 36-player field, winning $3.67 million in the process.

#PLATINUMPASS NEWS

We had a couple of new #PlatinumPass winners this week, and both will now be heading to the Bahamas in a couple of weeks to play the $25,000 buy-in PokerStars Players Championship.

First off, on Tuesday we announced the latest member of #TeamIrelandPSPC.

Find out who the Irish poker community selected as their new team member here.

Then there’s Damon Ferrante.

PokerStars Blog head honcho Brad Willis told us Ferrante’s story this week, and why he was selected internally by PokerStars to be one the last recipients of a Platinum Pass. We urge you to click the link below and have a read.

ARLIE COMPLETES 11TH LABOUR

Arlie Shaban strapped on the headset and entered the PokerStars VR world to complete his eleventh labour. His task? Find the Golden Apples.

He squared up against a mysterious player known as Poker_God – a representative of the same Poker Gods who have been issuing each challenge to Shaban.

TYSON VS MONEYMAKER

We’re sure Chris Moneymaker can take care of himself. But against Iron Mike? NO chance.

Luckily for Moneymaker it’s not Mike Tyson he’s up against in this bout, but Tyson Apostol, the Survivor winner turned poker player.

Moneymaker will be testing Apostol on the five disciplines of poker: discipline, patience, memory, math, and reading people. If Apostol can complete the challenges, there’s a #PlatinumPass waiting for him.

POKER IN THE EARS

James and Joe have received a strongly-worded memo from PokerStars HQ, which could change the editorial direction of the podcast for ever!

This week, they summarise the key results from #EPTPrague, and look ahead to 11 days of live streaming from the #PSPC and #PCA2019, with details of the broadcast schedule (on twitch.tv/pokerstars and youtube.com/pokerstars), plus the forthcoming ‘Mini PSPC’.

Most excitingly, the boys have a celebrity guest: West Wing star and Celebrity Poker Showdown co-creator Joshua Malina.
