While in Barcelona for the European Poker Tour, we caught up with some of the players who were playing the High Roller event and asked them what they love about Barcelona.

“I would say a lot of shisha places. So whenever you get busted from a tournament you can just go to the Olympic Port and have some shisha and a beer with a bunch of friends. That’s pretty cool,” said Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel.

Faraz Jaka likes Barcelona because it’s a big city and relaxed. He says, “I like big cities first of all. We’ve got the beach. We’ve got a ton of restaurants. When I see what people’s regular day consists of, you just go out, sit at the restaurant for about two to three hours have a meal, have some wine, come back and do the same thing in three hours. It’s a pretty relaxed lifestyle. Then you go out at night. It’s just a really chill city.”

Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier says, “I really love Barcelona because the food is really great. I like that they’re on a different schedule than most of the cities in Europe. It’s possible to eat really late and party really late and I like that. I used to live in Asia where you can do whatever you want all of the time. When you come back to Paris or Vienna and it’s 10pm and everyone is sleeping it’s kind of boring so that’s what I like the most.”

Andras Nemeth echoes Grospellier’s sentiments; “There are so many bars open till late at night. So many people in the streets. It’s pretty alive all day long so I think it’s pretty much impossible not to like Barcelona.”

“I like the temperature in the casino…Outside the casino I like the beaches. I think it’s just an amazing city. The weather is great. I like the feel that the culture has here compared to Western culture. It’s much more homely, a community feel. Everyone seems to care more about people they don’t know than at home,” said Andrew Lichtenberger.

And Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen just loves European cities in general. “The beach. I mean, being in a city where you can find a beautiful beach is always something that I’m going to love. The food is also amazing. I have a great feeling for European cities in general. I love to be here.”
