Transferring personalized notes and settings (desktop)
Save your personalized settings and move (merge if applicable) your notes from one computer to another by following these simple instructions.
The first thing is to copy the notes.user.xml (where 'user' is your Stars ID) and user.ini files to your desktop or into a separate folder (e.g. the Documents folder).
To locate these files, open our software and go to:
- Help
- Open My Settings Folder
Once you've found them, copy the notes.user.xml and user.ini files from one computer to the other.
To add the notes, open our software's lobby and follow the below steps:
- Select Tools
- Choose Player Notes Editor
- In the Edit Player Notes window click on the Import Notes button
- Find the notes files you copied and then click on Open
- Repeat this for any additional notes files you copied over
To add the settings back, please follow these instructions:
Windows
- Open our software's main lobby
- Click on the Help menu
- Select Open My Settings Folder
- Close our software and delete or rename the user.ini that you see from the settings folder
- Paste the other user.ini file you saved from the other computer directly to the settings folder (or to an alternative folder and then copy and paste into our software's settings folder, finally please make sure that the file is saved with the exact same name as the file you have just deleted [user.ini])
Mac
- Open the Finder
- Click on the menu bar at the top of your screen
- Click Go, then Go to Folder...
- Copy/paste the line below into the area provided and press Enter:
~/Library/Preferences - Locate and delete the file that contains user.ini found there
Paste the other user.ini file previously saved from the other computer, and then copy and paste to the same Preferences folder (please make sure that the file is saved with the exact same name as the file you have just deleted [user.ini])
