While the Edinburgh festival and its more slightly more anarchic little brother, the Edinburgh fringe festival, dance, sing, jump and shout across the fair city of Edinburgh another stage is being set here at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a big one. Some 330 players have qualified online for this £500 event and as we entered the building there was already a healthy queue of players waiting to buy in. The UKIPT Edinburgh is a four-day event (including two Day 1’s) and will need players to put in some astounding performances if they are to survive the gruelling days ahead and make it through to the final table.
The bard (that’s William Shakespeare, by the way) once wrote that all the world was a stage and if that’s the case then we have some great actors here. Names already down to play today include Neil Channing, Sam Grafton, UKIPT tournament leaderboard battler Chris Brammer and our most recent UKIPT champion Jamie Burland and his runner-up Tomas Cibak. And for followers of the PokerStars EPT blog you may be interested to know that regular contributor Marc Convey will also be bowing to the crowd today.
We’re due to play nine levels here today (and tomorrow, of course) and we’ll be posting up regular updates. Follow us all the way until the curtain closes.
