We did it!

Late registration is officially locked out as we approach the closing stages of Day 1B and the ANZPT record has been broken.

Today we saw 314 entries and with that added to yesterday’s field we have a total of 520 players for a history-making prize pool of $1,066,000.

And with that we also have the prize pool information. The eventual champion of the biggest field ever on the ANZPT will walk away $261,200 richer. It’ll be 63 places paying dividends with players who make it that far pocketing at least $3,200 for their efforts.

Leading the way so far this afternoon is South Korea’s Hyeong Wook Choi and rumour has it he’s good friends with yesterday’s end-of-day chip boss Min Jae Park. Park bagged up 118,500 on Day 1A and Choi is currently hot on his heels with 115,000.

Choi launched himself ahead of the pack some time ago with a set against an opponent’s overpair. Spiking a third eight on a jack-high flop he got all his chips in and held against pocket kings. That hand took Choi to 93,000 and he’s been steadily climbing ever since.

Another one to watch is WSOP APAC bracelet winner Luke Brabin. He’s made a late charge late in the day here and has amassed a stack of 82,000. He scored some chips after taking out a player in a recent hand. Brabin opened the action with a preflop raise and with a call from an opponent the flop landed ace-deuce-six. The opponent then check-called a continuation bet before players found themselves all in on the turn. Brabin had the lead with ace-queen to his opponent’s ace-eight and faded danger to scoop a nice pot.

We’re now entering the last level of play for Day 1B. The frontrunners could very well change in the final hour but one thing is certain, this is both the last-ever and now the biggest ANZPT event in the tours history.

We’ll be keeping a watchful eye as play begins to wind down here. Stay with us for the exciting conclusion of ANZPT Melbourne Day 1B!
