Seat 1: Chun Liang Kuo (China) – 467,000

The 39 year-old Taiwanese Chung-Liang Kuo says that he’s been playing poker for 5 years. He tells us that he learned poker playing cash games but has proven he is no slouch at tournament poker. When he’s not busy making deep runs in the APPT Macau Main Event he can be found playing $HK100/200 ring games.

Kuo said his favourite players and hero is the notorious Phil Ivey and he’s had a great time playing in Macau this week.

Seat 2: Zhenru Xie (China) – 1,840,000

Probably the most familiar face at this year’s final table, China’s Zhenru Xie was crowned the MPC21 Red Dragon champion over a field of 808 players in August 2014. Xie tells us he’s a CEO who has been playing poker for 10 years. He said he began playing in casinos and now plays stakes up to 10,000 pounds.

Xie says that it was luck that has brought him to this point in the tournament, but looking at his past results we think he might be underplaying his ability.

Seat 3: Weiyi Zhang (China) – 2,721,000

China’s Weiyi Zhang said he learned how to play poker in a Michigan card room and has been a fan of the game for two years now. At 21 years old Zhang has already scored a 13th place finish in the APPT Beijing Millions.

He said his hero is Mike ‘Timex’ McDonald and the most important thing to bring him to this point in the tournament is keeping calm and playing his best. When he’s away from the poker table, you can probably find Zhang playing computer games.

Seat 4: Yat Wai Cheng (Hong Kong) – 2,833,000

Yat Wai Cheng from Hong Kong currently leads the final seven players and told us he’s been playing poker for six years. He learned the game in a casino and usually plays stakes around HK$100-200. His best result to date was a fourth place finish in the 2013 Macau ACOP HK$100k for HK$1,485,000 (US$191,504).

Cheng says his hero is his mother and the most important hand to get him to this point was a triple up with pocket kings when he was short-stacked.

Seat 5: Zhao Fan (China) – 810,000

Zhao Fan is one of the least experienced players of the final seven, but over the last few days has proved that he can rumble with the best of them.

Fan started playing poker two years ago and is currently “feeling confident and passionate about his Texas hold’em game.” Fan has simply enjoyed the journey of the APPT9 Macau Main Event so far and we will be happy regardless of the result.

Seat 6: Weijie Ye (China) – 944,000

Weijie Ye is a 29-year old businessmen who started playing poker three years ago. Ye claims that his brother taught him how to play poker and that his brother is also his hero.

Ye has enjoyed getting more experience at the poker table during APPT9 Macau and is “very excited and happy” for the opportunity to play for a major title. Outside of poker Ye loves to play basketball.

Seat 7: Florencio Campomanes (Philippines) – 249,000

While he may be the short stack at the final table, Florencio Campomanes is one of the more experienced players with US$133,673 already on his resume. The largest result of Campomanes’ career came when he finished second for US$25,856 in a High Roller event in his home country. Campomanes has also had some success in events at PokerStars LIVE Macau, winning the HK$3,000 NLHE side event at the 2014 MPC.

Campomanes has been playing poker for nine years, getting his start in college. He claims that “composure and faith” have guided him to this point in the tournament.
