EPT Monte Carlo: Grand Final Day 1B Begins
2 Minute Read
Day 1B of the European Poker Tour Grand Final here in Monte Carlo is underway. Once again, we begin with a field of fresh faces that face either elimination or a 12-hour session that will lead them into Day 2. Sixty-five of the 147 runners survived Day 1A. Today, we have around 145 or so players (official numbers coming soon) starting Day 1B. I’ve made a quick trip through the room and found a number of familiar faces in the crowd. Here’s a quick photo gallery to get us started today.
2004 WSOP Champion Greg Raymer
2005 WSOP Champion Joe Hachem
2006 Aussie Millions champion Lee Nelson
2005 World Series of Poker final table player, Andy Black
2005 EPT Grand Final final table player Ben “Milkybar Kid” Grundy
Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman
Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier
2005 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure champion Gentleman John Gale
Juha Helppi
Julian Gardner–Moments after this picture was taken, a player came in for a raise under the gun and Gardner popped him back. The guy under the gun called. The flop came out 579. Gardner called the guy’s escalating bets all the way down (surely with an overpair) only to find the dude had called the re-raised with 68 and flopped the nut straight.
