Time to sit on a suitcase full of woolly sweaters and zip up your kit for a chilly one. In other words, the European Poker Tour (EPT) heads to Prague this week for its annual shiver through Czechia.

That means it’s also time to take a closer look at some of the off-the-felt EPT Prague activities on offer to players and their guests in the scintillating Czech capital.

Prague is a delight and you can, of course, take advantage of the incredibly winter delights the city has to offer. But here too is a full slate of EPT Prague activities laid on by PokerStars, all of which are free to attend.

Full tournament schedule

EPT PRAGUE ACTIVITIES

ICE CURLING

December 7, 15:00-17:00
December 14 – 12:00-15:00

The ice-stock experience is not to be missed

Prague is a city obsessed by ice, and not just because it’s covered in it through the winter months. Ice hockey is the national sport. Ice skating is done with grace and elan. And ice curling — or, more accurately, ice stock — is a brilliant way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Ice stock made a hugely successful debut on the EPT Prague activities calendar last year and here it is again ready to convert another group of players to its charms. The short version is that players get into teams and then roll their stones towards a target, bumping opposition stones out of the way en route.

It’s an incredibly fun game and a great way to socialise with PokerStars Ambassadors and fellow EPT attendees. Read about how we got on last year, then sign up at the PokerStars information desk.

Transport to and from the venue is provided. Food and drinks are also served.

LUNCH RIVER CRUISE

December 6 & 12 – 11:00-13:00

The EPT Prague river cruise is a tremendous way to see the city

Prague sits either side of the broad Vltava River, with the city’s magnificent monuments scattered high and low around this life-giving waterway. A trip along the river offers one of the very best ways to explore the city, and gives a unique perspective of Prague’s many beautiful bridges, including the renowned Charles Bridge, the de facto centre.

Lunch is provided, as is transport to the start point of a two-hour cruise.

PARTIES AND LOUNGES

The EPT is notorious for its player parties, and Prague always throws one of the very best. There’s also an exclusive Player Lounge where you can put your feet up, enjoy some light snacks, and unwind away from the poker tables.

This year there are also three Happy Hour nights in the Hop House, where there’s an open bar all night. Plus, Silver Pass winners should have received their invitation already to the Silver Pass Meet-Up, which is a brilliant opportunity to make new friends, enjoy the hospitality and perhaps also win a Gold Pass to extend your stay.

Details are as follows:

SILVER PASS MEET-UP

December 5, 19:30-20:30
Hop House Beer Garden

Your journey to the EPT Prague trophy could begin at the Silver Pass meet-up

An exclusive party for anyone who played through the Power Path online and won a Silver Pass. There’s lots of fun socialising to be done, but you can also potentially win a Gold Pass during an exclusive contest at the meet-up. So this is truly not to be missed. By the way, the Hop House is the bar/restaurant at the back of the Hilton Lobby. Look for the big copper tuns brewing the beer.

WELCOME DRINKS

December 5, 20:30-22:30
Hop House Beer Garden

The Hop House (right) hosts the Welcome Drinks

There’s complementary drinks and food on offer on Thursday night in the Hop House. Come along and make some new friends — before becoming friendly adversaries at the poker tables.

PLAYERS PARTY

December 8 – 20:00-late
Cloud 9 (Hilton Hotel)

The EPT Prague party is always one of the best

The Cloud 9 Skybar at the Hilton Hotel is one of the city’s most appealing locations, peering out across the Prague skyline from 40 metres in the sky. Drinks are free until midnight — and the DJ will play on far later. There’s a free buffet on offer all night too. It’s a great place to let your hair down and enjoy some delicious cocktails.

PLAYER LOUNGE

Daily — 13:00-01:00

Take some time away from the tables in the Player Lounge

Looking to relax away from the tables? No problem. Head to the Players Lounge, open every day from 13:00-01:00, where you’ll find drinks and snacks as well as a Shisha lounge. It’s the perfect place to unwind between tournaments or in breaks and make the most of some of the hospitality on offer.

The Lounge is conveniently located alongside the food trucks, in operation from 11:00-22:00 daily, just outside the main doors into the Hilton’s LL level — also where the tournament room is.
