For the eight and a half years since poker’s Black Friday, the most common question we saw on social media whenever PokerStars ran a big online tournament series was: “When will Americans get to play in a Championship of Online Poker (COOP) again?”
Well, while there’s a sense of optimism in certain states where online poker remains out of bounds, for those poker players who live in the state of Pennsylvania, the answer is soon. Very soon.
Introducing the PACOOP
From November 30 – December 16 2019, FOX Bet and PokerStars are thrilled to announce the inaugural Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker (PACOOP)–a 50-tournament online poker series with $1,000,000 guaranteed in prizes.
The series will have tournaments across a range of poker games and buy-in levels ($35 to $750), with satellites starting at just $1.
The whole series will culminate in a $300 Main Event on December 15 which has a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.
“The Championship of Online Poker, or COOP, is one of our most prestigious events and we’re proud to give Pennsylvania its own,” said Matt Primeaux, President, FOX Bet. “Players in PA have already shown their excitement for PokerStars so we took things to the next level with a $1 million series guarantee and plenty of ways to get in on the action.”
How to win your way in for cheap
In addition to PACOOP satellites, players will have the chance to win entries through the following special offers:
- An exclusive Main Event Depositor Freeroll awarding 25 Main Event tickets, worth a total of $7,500, taking place on December 15 at 2:00 PM ET. Players must make a deposit of $50 or more using code ‘PACOOP’ before 1:59 PM ET on December 15 to enter.
- A special Second Chance freeroll for PACOOP players who get knocked out without making any money. Each freeroll will award $1,250 in satellite tickets and entries to PACOOP events, totaling $20,000. The freerolls will run daily at 6:00 PM ET from December 1 to 16, except on Sundays when they will kick off at 3:00 PM ET.

Jennifer Shahade
Pennsylvanian, PokerStars Ambassador, and accomplished chess player and poker player Jennifer Shahade said: “I’m thrilled to see PokerStars’ COOP coming to Pennsylvania this December, giving PA players the chance to play in a world-renowned poker series and vie for titles.
“Having online poker in Pennsylvania has been amazing so far. I felt chills playing my very first Sunday session, and there was such a buzz at the tables. I can’t wait to see everyone battling to be the first PokerStars PA champion.”
PokerStars and PokerStars Casino launched on the FOX Bet app in Pennsylvania earlier this month, making the world’s largest online poker site the first poker operator to go live in the state.
PokerStars, PokerStars Casino, and FOX Bet are available for download on iOS and Android and via the internet in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
