It’s back, baby. Let the quest for a Platinum Pass begin!

Just minutes ago at the European Poker Tour (EPT) stop in Barcelona, PokerStars made a HUGE announcement:

The PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) will return next year, this time taking place right here in beautiful Barcelona from August 20-24, 2020.

So, not only will we be back in sunny Spain 12 months from now for the €22,500 buy-in (approximately $25,000) tournament, but we now have an entire year to give away Platinum Passes.

“The inaugural PSPC generated hundreds of personal stories of achievement and ambition among the Platinum Pass winners who dared to dream of playing in an exclusive high-roller event,” said Severin Rasset, Managing Director & Commercial Officer at PokerStars.

“The PSPC demonstrates our commitment to cultivating and growing the game, not only by creating opportunities for poker fans of all levels to win life-changing sums of money, but by showcasing poker and its many inspirational stories well beyond the poker realm.”

Just like last year, there will be countless ways you can get your hands on one of the highly coveted Passes, from online freerolls and live victories to social media contests and mind-melting code cracking.

How to win a Platinum Pass

From August 28, ten passes will be randomly awarded online in a Mystery Chest promotion through Stars Rewards. After that, future Platinum Pass giveaways will be disclosed on a regular basis right up until the August 2020 event.

Check on all upcoming Platinum Pass giveaways here.

Platinum Pass packages are worth €26,466 (approx. $30,000) and include the huge tournament buy-in, plus a six-night trip to Barcelona for the winner and a guest including hotel, flights, transfer and expenses.

You’ll be able to keep track and get to know of all our Platinum Pass winners right here.

Surprise! You already won a platinum pass

Following the PSPC 2020 announcement, PokerStars kicked things off right.

The first Platinum Passes for 2020 were awarded to the ‘Chase Your Dream’ competition winners, with UFC® announcer and PokerStars Ambassador Bruce Buffer – who participated as a player in PSPC 2019 – on hand to share the good news.

As you may have seen on the live stream, the five winners were in town thinking they were only playing for a $10,000 prize. Little did they know that all five of them will now be back next year playing in such a massive tournament, one with the power to potentially change their lives forever.

Today, we’re happy to introduce you to the following winners.

  • Adrian Garcia (23 / Salamanca, Spain)
  • Clement Eloy (36 / Lille, France)
  • Danielle Summer (38 / Tenerife, Spain)
  • Christoph Walkenhorst (35 / Bielefield, Germany)
  • Daryl Inglis (43 / Ontario, Canada)

You can learn more about all of them by visiting our interactive map of Platinum Pass winners and our Platinum Pass winner profile page.

Looking back at PSPC 2019

A lot of lives were changed back in January.

PokerStars awarded more than 300 Platinum Passes over 13 months for the inaugural PSPC, contributing to a prize pool of more than $26 million, the largest ever for such an event. The tournament, which played out in January 2019 at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in The Bahamas, and became the richest $25,000 buy-in live poker tournament in history, was won by former Spanish gym owner Ramon Colillas who topped a field of 1,039 to take home $5.1 million after winning his Platinum Pass for free.

Guess who will be back at the PSPC in 2020

“The PSPC was an incredible experience for me,” said Collilas, who is now a PokerStars Ambassador. “From the lead up to the tournament to the event itself and now wearing the PokerStars patch, it has been a dream come true. I’m so happy it’s back again and I get to be a part of potentially changing someone’s life. Although, I am definitely going to attempt a back-to-back!”

We personally got to know hundreds of Platinum Pass winners, and it was our privilege to tell their stories right here on PokerStars Blog.

Now we can’t wait to do it all over again.
