Weekend highlights

Simon Mattsson wins Sunday HR: Mattsson is one of online poker’s most well known and respected players. With over $18.5 million in online tournament winnings to his name and a consistent streak at the tables, he’s currently the top ranked player in Sweden, according to PocketFives. This weekend, Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson took down the Sunday HR, one of the High Roller Club’s richest tourneys, earning $22,402 for first place.

He’s back with a HRC victory – Niklas “Lena900” Astedt

Niklas Astedt wins Supersonic: Another of online poker’s most prolific players, Niklas “Lena900” Astedt has been somewhat absent from our results write-ups as of late, but in the last few weeks we noticed the Swedish pro creeping up the final table rankings. This weekend he’s bagged a trophy for his victory in the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic. The first place result earned Astedt $15,145. The following day, Lena bagged second place in the $5k Titans event for $104,441 (simon1471 of the UK won it for $134,799).

Jonas Silverstein makes decent cashes: He may not have claimed any first place victories this weekend. However, three decent final table cashes put Canadian reg Jonas “RaiseUpBlind” Silverstein straight on our radar. Silverstein started off with a relatively humble seventh place finish in Saturday’s Bounty Builder HR, worth a couple of grand. On Sunday, he came second in the $530 Sunday Marathon for $5k and third in the Sunday Warm-Up for $7,906. Nothing too dramatic, but all together an excellent performance and result.

Also in the High Roller Club: Elsewhere in the High Roller Club, “koreanmonkey” of Korea won the Sunday Warm-Up for $15,225, also coming fourth in the Sunday Marathon for $2k. “gnetaren” of Sweden, who was once ranked number one in the world on PocketFives, was the winner of the Sunday Marathon, locking up $7,650. And “zyax” of Andorra won the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown for $18,787 – over $12k coming from bounties.

Sunday Million 16th Anniversary Day 2 – The Sunday Million 16th Anniversary is currently on break with just 38 players remaining. The prize pool is set at $10.4 million, with $1 million for first. Day 3 will play down to the winner. You can check out the ongoing state of play for the SM16 here.
