The best of the best are not just skilful, they are full of stamina too. Today’s round-up from the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has details of new wins for some of the game’s most durable talents…

Double double for Schemion: Two years ago, Ole “wizowizo” Schemion won two SCOOP titles within the space of two days, picking up his first double ‘COOP. It took him only slightly longer this time around, but Schemion completed a second double last night when he outlasted a scintillating final table to win the $10,300 High Roller, adding another $258,639.29 to his coffers. Schemion previously won SCOOP-16-H: $2,100 PLO, 6-Max during this series, and has made six other final tables. Schemion is, without doubt, one of the best tournament players in the world, with $16.3 million in live earnings too. The Vienna-based player had to navigate through a 118-entry field for this latest title, and beat a final table that included overnight chip leader Daniel “Oxota” Dvoress, who finished sixth, Sergi “srxakgirona” Reixach (fifth), Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer (fourth), Wiktor “Iimitless” Malinowski (third) and, eventually, “megaliciou$$$” of Romania. In the final hand, reported by Poker News, megaliciou$$$ flopped two pair but Schemion turned a bigger two pair, which is where all the money went in. megaliciou$$$ took $200,391.37, but yet another title went to Schemion.

Two up for “Bomber&Granater”: Another Austria-based player, “Bomber&Granater”, recorded a second SCOOP triumph of the series, and again found all the right moves in a tournament that would award the most lavish riches. Bomber&Granater won the $1,050 Super Tuesday, officially listed as a “medium” level event in SCOOP, but still boasting a prize pool of $642,000 and a first prize of $112,056.84. There were 642 entries. That came in addition to Bomber&Granater’s $110,486.01 victory earlier in the series in SCOOP 36-H, another $1,050 NLHE, 8-Max event, with 633 entries. It’s “unlikely to be the last,” wrote a prescient scribe of what was a first SCOOP title. How true.

Mixed gamer Leknes goes 1/2 in Draw: Make that a triple double. Hot on the heels of the two Austrians, Norway’s Tobias “Senkel92” Leknes also picked up a second title of SCOOP 2020 last night, winning the $11 buy-in pot-limit 5-Card Draw. What’s more, he also finished second in the medium buy-in version of the same event, narrowly missing out on a highly unusual double. His victory in the $11 event required beating a field of 1,701 entries and came with a $2,521 prize, but it was most notable for its underlining of Leknes’s all-round skills. His first title this time came in the $215 buy-in pot limit Omaha Hi/Lo, and he also won the $11 Badugi for his first SCOOP title in 2017. Sharking through the low and medium buy-in events is exceptionally difficult, but Leknes seemingly does it with ease. Only “Denis XXX007” of Russia denied Leknes the “medium” title too, in a tournament in which Rui “RuiNF” Vieira finished third. To date, only Terrence “Unassigned” Chan has won two versions of the same event on the same day in SCOOP, a feat he achieved in 2009 in the fixed-limit hold’em.

Maslak is back: Konstantin “krakukra” Maslak was the Player of the Series in SCOOP last year, winning the “low”, “high” and “overall” leader board prizes. He is giving a title defence a very good crack of the whip too, having previously made seven final tables and making the money 91 occasions in this year’s series. He had to wait until last night to go all the way to a third career title, however, but he was unbeatable in the $1,050 5-Card Draw. Maslak won $19,617 for this victory, over a 49-entry field, and needed to beat fellow Russian (and ‘COOP beast) “Premove” heads up. That was after Luke “lb6121” Schwartz fell in third for the fourth time this series.
Day of Romania: Romanian players had a great day yesterday in SCOOP, with “jah1923” winning the $109 Mini Super Tuesday, for $55,501.11, and “Narcisus90” winning the $109 PLO8 6-Max for a further $15,787.37. Not only that, but “robertino_manu” was part of the three-way deal in the tournament jah1923 won and actually walked away with the most money, despite finishing second. robertino_manu took $61,644 from the prize pool. All of that was eclipsed by another second place finish, however. As noted above, “megaliciou$$$” lost heads-up to Ole “wizowizo” Schemion in the $10K, and that runner-up spot was worth $200,391. That is more than Romania’s six champions have won this year combined.
Give him them chips: Fintan “easywithaces” Hand is already a SCOOP champion this year, and he has overnight interest in two tournaments currently under way. Hand bagged 1.45 million chips in the $1,050 PKO, good for 20th place of the 33 remaining, and he has 3.45 million in the $109 buy-in version of that event, placing him 21st of 150 left. Some good streaming coming up with Fintan tonight.
