Home / News / Stadium Series Thursday update: Badziakouski denies Spraggy

Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg headlined the action on Wednesday night in Stadium Series, but it was another very well known player who claimed the top spot. Find out all the details in today’s Stadium Series recap…

Mikita “fish2013” Badziakouski claims Stadium Series success

Badziakouski denies Spraggy and co: It was, for obvious reasons, billed as the Spraggy vs. Fintan showdown, with two of PokerStars’ top streamers making the money in the $5K Stadium Series Heat 25. But after Fintan couldn’t spin up his short stack, busting in 10th, all eyes fell on Spraggy. With more than 25,000 people watching on Twitch, the Englishman was having the nervous time of his life, and watched as players of the calibre of Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson and Sam “Str8$$$Homey” Greenwood hit the rail. Spraggy managed a ladder to third after Vicent “gordon0410” Bosca lost a four-handed chip lead and was out in fourth, but could go no further. Spraggy busted in third, for a payday of $70,633.50. That left Mikita “fish2013” Badziakouski up against Austria’s “WATnlos”, with Badziakouski closing it out. The Latvia-based Belarusian won $119,483, with WATnlos adding another $91,866 to his account.

Difelice back at it

More for Difelice: Alex “dynoalot” Difelice won his second WCOOP title last September and made six final tables during SCOOP earlier this year. Last night he became a Stadium Series champion too, beating an 893-entry field to victory in Heat 25-M, with a $530 buy-in. The victory earned the Canadian another $82,365.40, and put yet another major trophy in his cabinet. The UK’s “Phemo” was second, winning $58,712.90, with Spraggy’s Day 2 in this one ending in 30th place, for $2,221.

Back-to-back finals: Although Vicent “gordon0410” Bosca surrendered a chip lead four-handed, and finished fourth, in the $5K Heat 25 event, there was a consolation for the UK-based Spaniard. At the same time, he was en route to the money stages of the $5K Heat 26 event. Bosca sits seventh of 11 remaining overnight in that one, with another near $120,000 first prize on the line. Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson also made the final of Heat 25, finishing seventh for $24,684.15, but he too is back for more. He sits second, with only the formidable sight of Fedor “CrownUpGuy” Holz above him in the counts. Play resumes at 1.05pm ET.

Vicent Bosca and Simon Mattsson have both gone back-to-back in Stadium Series $5Ks

$1 million guaranteed tonight: There are three huge PKO events starting tonight, otherwise known as Heat 27. The $530 medium level event has a $1 million guaranteed prize pool and is not to be missed. Action gets under way at 1.05pm ET.

TWITCH WATCH

It was a brilliant run for Spraggy in the $5K, and it ended in true drama. Spraggy secured the ladder to third, but then was out the next hand. Here’s how it went down:

Meanwhile, Lex Veldhuis’s role in the real PokerStars Twitch party last night was mainly to rail his friends. But he was also still playing his A-game in Stadium Series. Here’s a lovely look inside Veldhuis’s mind as he loses a pot, but does everything right against Sam Greenwood.
