Home / Poker / Stadium Series Tuesday update: Weekly finals hit the finals

One week in, and Stadium Series is hotting up. There’s live cards-up coverage, buy-ins are doubled, and all the big names are joining the fray. Here’s the latest from the tables…

STADIUM SERIES NEWS BULLETIN

Finals at the finals: The first Weekly Finals of Stadium Series have reached their final tables, with eastern Europeans dominating the low buy-in event, players from seven different countries in the medium, and the high offering the tantalising prospect of a first Stadium Series double winner.

Telker chases number two: Mike “munchenHB” Telker won the first high buy-in tournament to be completed in this new series, when he took down Heat 2-H last Monday. The Costa Rica-based American reinvested $530 of his $80,080 prize in the Weekly Final and now leads the way with nine players left from the 1,259-entry field. Former SCOOP winner turned Twitch streamernelepo10“ of Brazil is in second, with much decorated Manuel “fellatiado” Ruivo also well placed in fourth. There’s $157,004 for the winner, which will be the biggest of Stadium Series so far.

All around the world: Netherlands-based Portuguese “PTStar86” leads the hunt for the $69,030 up top in the medium buy-in Weekly Final, with Germany’s “Sina170902” hot on his heels. “McFadden92“, who finished second in the Winter Series Main Event is also in contention again, in fourth overall. There were 10,297 entries in this one. Meanwhile, a $15,401 prize is on the line for the winner of the $5.50 buy-in tournament, with Bulgaria’s “DonSimon450” in the box seat. Additionally, there are three Ukrainians at the final table, alongside a Lithuanian and a Russian. Western Europe is represented by Germany’s “AA20@Star” and Belgium’s “FistonDG”, while “BK AK 171”, of Brazil, is the only player from further afield.

Stars twinkling as second week starts: Pedro Vinícius “pvigar” Garagnani, Claus “SsicK_OnE” Segebrecht and Dominik “Bounatirou” Nitsche all retain an interest in Heat 10-H, which played from its 443 original entries down to the last 47. Austria’s “Succeeed” leads Ireland’s “FutureofMe” at the very top. With the buy-in now $1,050 at the high level, and the prize pool at the guaranteed $500,000, the competition is getting ever tougher in the Stadium Series.

Live coverage begins: The PokerStars Twitch channel streamed seven hours of cards-up Stadium Series action last night, with James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton joined by three esteemed guests. Sam Grafton and Griffin Benger hopped in the booth, and Lex Veldhuis also came over to offer some analysis of the action. They all go again tonight, so tune in.
