All star finalists in Heat 24-H

Netherlands to the fore in Heat 24: Both the high and medium buy-in tournaments in Heat 24 went to players based in the Netherlands, with “tinnoemulder” continuing his hot streak in this Series to win the high and “Aalexxs” picking up top honours in the medium. This was a PKO event, which meant there was plenty of extra cash to be collected along the way — something reflected in tinnoemulder’s haul in particular. He won $58,084.71 from the main prize pool, the same as second-placed “Anjeyyy”, but tinnoemulder earned a further $76,562.50 in bounties. That made a total haul of $134,647.21. The tournament paid 11 spots, and it was a who’s who of top talents. As for Aalexxs, his or her victory in the $530 was worth $70,021.39, including bounties, with a field of 1,098 left trailing in the wake. “skattefar” of the UK won the $55 low buy-in, banking $34,727.12 including bounties.

Streamers book into Day 2: There’s going to be some outstanding action to watch on Twitch tonight, even in addition to the brilliant cards-up coverage on the main PokerStars channel. Both Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg and Fintan “easywithaces” Hand are through to Day 2 and into the money in Heat 25-H, and will tonight play for a $119,483.10 first prize. Spraggy sits in third of 11 players left, with Fintan in ninth, and neither is going to have it easy. Ireland’s “GaryT20” leads, with such bosses as Vicent “gordon0410” Bosca, “WATnlos”, Sam “Str8$$$Homey” Greenwood, Sergi “srxakgirona” Reixach, Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson, Mikita “fish2013” Badziakouski and recent Stadium Series “drupa-lucker” all still with chips. Remarkably, Spraggy also sits in 14th of 45 remaining (from 893 entries) in the medium version of this event. Is a double final table on the cards? Watch with Spraggy. Watch with Fintan. Or watch with Hartigan/Stapes and friends.

Fintan and Spraggy both made deep runs in latest $5K

EYES ON THE FINALS

Here’s how it all finished in the biggest tournaments of the week:

Parker “Tonkaaaa” Talbot

“tonkaaaa” destroys Weekly High: He is one of Twitch poker’s most popular streamers, and one of the modern game’s great characters, but even Parker “tonkaaaa” Talbot couldn’t have imagined quite how well his Tuesday night could have gone. Coming into the final table of the $2,100 high buy-in Stadium Series Weekly Final, Talbot was sitting in second place of nine left, staring up at the chip lead of Ukraine’s “VladTheSlaye”. But as vaunted opponents started to depart, including the likes of “Bomber&Granater” in seventh, and Phil “Grindation” McAllister in third, Talbot had built a huge stack. He eventually found pocket nines against VladTheSlaye’s Q♣ K♥ , won the flip, and the game was up. Talbot’s $261,489.46 prize is the biggest win of his career and pushes lifetime tournament winnings past $6.3 million, according to Pocket Fives. VladTheSlaye won $191,491.43. With the Stadium Series buy-ins now at their highest level for the last ten days, prizes are only going to escalate further.

rollingdrone gathers all the cash: Poland’s “rollingdrone” scored a standout victory in the $215 medium Weekly Final, navigating through a sea of Brazilians at the final table to claim a $187,437.46 first prize, the biggest of his or her career. As noted yesterday, five of the last nine players in this one were from Brazil, which was itself an incredible achievement from a field of 7,113 runners. But rollingdrone, who was placed seventh coming into the final, managed to plot a course to the top and a heads-up battle against the overnight leader “royalmaf67”. The pair arranged a deal, whereby royalmaf67 guaranteed a payout of $177,397.94, but it was rollingdrone who closed it out and took the extra, securing the biggest “medium” level payout of Stadium Series so far.

Adam “Adamyid” Owen: derailed in second

Owen’s charge halted in second: Adam “Adamyid” Owen’s attempts to add Stadium Series success to victory in SCOOP (and in plenty of other tournaments) foundered when he came up against a tenacious Russian player named “raion64rus”. The pair got heads up in the $22 low Weekly Final, after 48,102 other players had been knocked out, but it was one-way traffic in the direction of the Russian. “I got absolutely wrecked by that lad heads up,” Owen said at the end. “He played a very tough style.” It seems that raion64rus was in the event on a virtual freeroll, and had no results to speak of prior to this event. But some brilliant play won him $89,499, while Owen had to settle for $63,758.29 — but a significant injection of viewers to his Twitch channel too.

TWITCH WATCH

There’s so much to choose from after a spectacular day for Twitch streamers in Stadium Series. But here are just a few clips from the action.

Spraggy was far from certain of making Day 2 of the $530 event when this hand took place. He was 64th of 70 remaining, with only seven big blinds. But he found the “classic stop n go” to get back involved:

But it was plainer sailing in the $5K, especially with hands like this:

And last but not least, Spraggy and Fintan chat about their plans for the final day, including the important question of whether they would chop it if they finished heads-up:
