Four days ago, Mike “goleafsgoeh” Leah became the fifth player to earn a Triple ‘COOP– WCOOP, SCOOP and TCOOP titles– with his victory in Event #38. Tonight we had two more players going for those same honors… and more. Two-time WCOOP champion and SCOOP champion Brian “brianm15” England also had a shot at a Triple COOP tonight, and Arten “veeea” Vezhenkov had the opportunity to become the first-ever winner of the Stars Slam– with WCOOP, SCOOP, TCOOP, and Sunday Million titles to his name. England was short stacked and his quest came to an end on the fourth hand of this final table, but Vezhenkov held a dominating chip lead through most of it, relinquishing it only when 99_shark_94 took out kissyingui and ramastar88 in back-to-back hands. As a result, 99_shark_94 took a 2.3 to 1 chip lead into heads-up play and was able to quickly overpower veeea, denying him the Stars Slam and the Triple COOP as he took down his first TCOOP title.

This 6-Max Hyper-Turbo event drew 1,521 entries (1,145 unique players and 376 re-entries), resulting in a $1,014,055.07 prize pool. 173 places were paid, with first place set to earn $154,415.95.

Two hours and 25 minutes after cards went in the air, the field was down to seven players. With the blinds up to 500,000/1,000,000, veeea open-shoved for 28 million on the button and sk2ii_m0dR called all-in for 9.4 million from the small blind. Veeea’s A♥ K♦ had sk2ll_m0dR’s A♣ 8♣ dominated, and things stayed that way as the board ran out Q♦ J♣ 8♦ 4♦ 5â™  . Sk2ll_m0dR exited in seventh place, sending us to the final table.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: brianm15 (4,131,359 in chips)
Seat 2: veeea (39,572,164 in chips)
Seat 3: ramastar88 (7,374,188 in chips)
Seat 4: kissyingui (5,035,419 in chips)
Seat 5: 99_shark_94 (11,587,852 in chips)
Seat 6: Rebel FishAK (8,349,018 in chips)

Ramastar88 had little more than seven big blinds when he arrived at the final table and on Hand #3, he picked up A♥ 10â™  and called veeea’s button shove. It was a classic race as veeea turned up 8♥ 8♦ , but ramastar88 paired his ace on the flop to double up to 13.2 million. Then, on the very next deal, brianm15 open-shoved for 3.28 million and ramastar88 reshoved behind him. Remarkably, the same hands were turned over– 8♦ 8â™  for brianm15 and A♦ 10♥ for ramastar88. Brianm15’s pocket eights were looking good on the turn with the board reading 6♦ 6â™  2â™  9♥ , but the A♣ spiked on the river, ending brianm15’s run at a Triple COOP in sixth place.

Brianm15’s elimination left kissyingui on the short stack, but he doubled up to 6.74 million on the next hand when his A♣ K♣ held up against veeea’s 6♦ 8â™  . Then, on Hand #11, the action folded to Rebel FishAK, who moved all-in for 5.12 million with Aâ™  3♣ . Veeea reshoved from the small blind and turned up 7â™  7♣ . Rebel FishAK did not improve on the 10♦ 5♣ 5♥ 4â™  Qâ™  board and was eliminated in 5th place.

With four players remaining, kissyingui scored two more double-ups, first through ramastar88 and then through 99_shark_94 to move up to 8.2 million in chips. But it was ramastar88 who made the biggest move, calling veeea’s three-bet shove with 9â™  10â™  . Veeea turned over 4♦ 4â™  and survived the 7♦ 5♥ 2♥ flop, but the 9♣ turn paired up ramastar88. The Q♦ river did not help veeea and ramastar88 doubled to 21.3 million.

The blinds were up to 875,000/1,750,000 when the action folded to kissingui in the small blind. He moved all-in for 8.24 million and 99_shark_94 called from the big. 99_shark_94’s K♣ 10♣ had kissyingui’s K♦ 4♥ dominated, and his hand held up on the 9♦ 7♥ 2♣ 6♣ Q♦ board, sending kissyingui to the rail in fourth place.

On the next deal, 99_shark_94 picked up A♥ 3♥ and open-shoved for 33.6 million on the button. Veeea folded and ramastar88 called from the big blind with K♦ 10♦ . Ramastar88 didn’t get any help on the 8♥ 7♦ 6♣ Jâ™  J♣ board and hit the rail in third place.

Heads-up chip counts

Seat 2: veeea (23,056,474 in chips)
Seat 5: 99_shark_94 (52,993,526 in chips)

Although veeea had held the chip lead for most of the final table, 99_shark_94’s back-to-back knockouts resulted in a reversal of fortune. 99_shark_94 entered heads-up play with a 2.3 to 1 chip lead and on the fourth hand of the match, he moved all-in on the button and veeea called all-in.

99_shark_94 A♥ 8♠
veeea J♥ 6♥

99_shark_94 made a pair of aces on the flop, turned trips, and rivered quads on the A♣ 6♠ 4♦ A♦ A♠ board, denying veeea the Stars Slam and locking up his first TCOOP title.

Congratulations to 99_shark_94 on joining the ranks of TCOOP champions! He banked $154,415.95 for the win, while runner-up veeea earned $100,936.90.
