Rafael “GM_VALTER” Moraes

Moraes vaults to second SCOOP title: If you’ve been following our SCOOP reports you’ll know that Brazil is dominating the winner’s sheets to an almost embarrassing degree. You can now add Team PokerStars Pro Rafael “GM_VALTER” Moraes to the seemingly neverending list of Brazilian champions as he took down the $1K 6-Max Turbo Freezeout–otherwise known as SCOOP 86-H–last night for $44,828, outlasting a 232-player field live on his Twitch stream. The final table included well-known pros such as Jerry “Perrymejsen” Odeen and Chris “lissi stinkt” Frank, but Moraes was the last man standing. This is his second SCOOP title, having won a $2K NLHE event back in 2016 for a whopping $301,625. Vamos!

Pinguinho joins the hat-trick club: First up was Ami “UhhMee” Barer, closely followed by “_sennj_”. Next was Ole “wizowizo” Schemion. And now we have a fourth three-time winner in 2022. And of course, he’s Brazilian. Gabriel “pinguinho” Baleeiro had already won the $1K 6-Max Turbo PKO and the $11 Saturday KO leading into yesterday’s action, where he proceeded to add a $1K 5-card PLO8 (SCOOP 83-H) title to his CV, good for $28,551. To do it, Baleeiro not only had to defeat Norway’s “Chillolini” and Sweden’s Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson on the final table, but he also had to overcome nine-time WCOOP and four-time SCOOP champion Denis “aDrENalin710” Strebkov heads-up. When it was all over Strebkov had to settle for $21,897 and Baleeiro had the hat-trick.

Kelvin “kelvin_fp:ar” Kerber

Three new double champions: Our list of double 2022 SCOOP champions continues to grow too. Last night we saw Croatia’s “BBRS999” take down the 289-entry $1K PKO Freezeout (SCOOP 82-H) for $54,590, including $30,476 in bounties, adding to the $1K 6-Max title they picked up earlier in the series. Meanwhile, Estonia’s B4NKR0LL3R was also doing the double, following up their $1K PKO title with a victory in the $1K 7-Max Turbo PKO (SCOOP 87-H) for $75,429, including $44,945 in bounties. Finally, there was Brazil’s Kelvin “kelvin_fp:ar” Kerber who picked up a second trophy in the $109 5-card PLO8 (SCOOP 83-M) for $9,984, having already won a $109 stud hi/lo title this year. This is Kerber’s third career SCOOP title, his first coming in 2015 from a $7.50 rebuy NLHE event.

While it was their first win of the year, we must also give a shoutout to the UK’s “J0hnny_Dr@m@” who won their second career SCOOP title last night in the SCOOP 87-M: $109 NLHE 7-Max Turbo PKO, good for $26,443 including bounties. Their previous title came last year in the $1K Super Tuesday, which they won for a massive $196,627.
