It’s down to this… just six players remain in the 2021 World College Poker Championship Main Event presented by the World College Poker (WCP) and PokerStars.net. Final table time… and you can watch it all play out!
The WCP Main Event final table happens this Saturday, Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. ET (6 p.m. BST / 7 p.m. CET). The final table will be hosted by the Solve for Why Academy with the broadcast starting at 12 noon ET.
Providing commentary will be Solve for Why founder and poker pro Matt Berkey with fellow poker pro and stand-up comedian Clayton Fletcher helping out as well. Hosting the ceremonies will be World College Poker Associate Producer and Podcast host, Alec Rome, a junior at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Speaking of college students, that is who is competing in this international event that began back on July 24. Players from six global regions worked their way through three previous rounds to reach Saturday’s final table.
The WCP Main Event was open to college students aged 18 and over who have valid student ID and are currently enrolled at college, university, or vocational school. (Those who have graduated from college recently — i.e., within the last three months — could play, too.)
Here is who made it:
|Name||Country||Screen Name||Chip Count|
|Jeon Changhyun||Republic of Korea||JJackD||972,791|
|Ashutosh Balaprasad Karwa||India||RageAce00||185,611|
The blinds will begin at 3,000/6,000 with a 750 ante, which means those short stacks will need to get active right away to challenge for the title.
The champ will receive a PokerStars European Poker Tour package worth about €8,000 along with an engraved PokerStars trophy. The champ will also get poker gear, subscriptions, and other packages provided by the event’s many corporate sponsors. On top of that, the winner will play some more poker, too, in a heads-up match against high-stakes pro Patrik Antonius! (Details on that match to come.)
There are prizes for the runner-up as well. One is a three-day trip to Las Vegas for a live poker training session with poker pro Matt Berkey‘s Solve for Why Academy. The third-place finisher will also get a one-hour lesson with poker pro Jonathan Little of PokerCoaching.com as well as other packages and gear.
Visit the World College Poker website for the complete list of prizes.
