There is one player who will be ready to buy a few rounds at Oktoberfest next month. Today’s final table conclusion to the two-day million dollar guarantee 2014 WCOOP Event #62 6-Max Progressive Super-Knockout tournament was all about Germany’s Afterpub. Even after making a deal heads-up with Yaba, Afterpub would take the bracelet and $114,901.76 for the win and collect an additional $38,757.26 in bounties.

Only four tables of six would survive the first day as 2,245 players started off with only 288 places getting half of the prize pool. Thanks to the Progressive Super-Knockout addition most players would go home with at least sliver of their $700.00 buy-in after collecting half of the progressive bounty on the heads of each player they knocked out.

Four Red Spades would manage to dip into both prize pools. Team PokerStars Pro Matthias De Meulder (143rd place, $948.00 + $1,974.20 in bounties), Team Online’s Randy “nanonoko” Lew (131st place, $948.00 + $2,285.90), Team Pro Vanessa “LadyMaverick” Rousso (77th place, $1,433.20 + $2,774.27), and finally Team Online’s Grzegorz “DaWarsaw” Mikielewicz (35th place, $2,612,61 + $1,413.12) would all grab funds from the $1,492,925.00 total prize pool leaving some sizable bounties today as well as the $117,569.34 sitting up top.

Day One finish

Overnight chip leader CONCRETE1990 would be looking today to improve on a ninth place finish during Event #52. The SCOOP 2011 Main Event and this year’s Event #20 champ Sami “Lrslzk” Kelopuro would certainly like to add a second title today with his slightly above average stack.

Shortly before the conclusion of the first hour, Kelopuro would knock out two players in three hands. First, he would take out ram_siva1 after flopping a set and getting max value from ram_siva1’s top pair for a 1.05 million chip pot. Then, Econometrist saw the supply of a chip stack not meet its demands after shoving preflop with pocket eights into Sami’s aces earning Kelopuro a $2,179.41 bounty and a 1.33 million chip pot along with the temporary chip lead with 14 players remaining.

Kelopuro would run into some hard luck towards the end of the third hour of the restart. After turning a nut straight and getting CONCRETE1990 to call all-in with two pair, the day one chip leader notched a boat on the river to claim a key 2.1 million chip pot. A dozen hands later Sami would double up ILS007 after getting pocket tens in preflop against ILS007’s queens for a 2.3 million chip pot. The scraps would last three more hands as Kelopuro was eliminated a few minutes before the third hour break in ninth place ($10,450.47 + $7,935.76).

After eighth place Tyren0 left with $10,450.47 + $5,361.50 in bounties, hand-for-hand play would start as the potential $100K difference between seventh and today’s WCOOP champ was enough to make all players slow down a bit. Then, with the blinds up to 30K/60K ante 7.5K a resurgent Afterpub would min-raise on the button of the three-handed table as Belabacsi three-bet to 780,000. Afterpub put in another raise to 1.44 mllion as Belabacsi made the call all-in for a little less holding A♦ J♥ . Racing against Afterpub’s pocket sixes 6♦ 6â™  Belabacsi would not touch the 4♦ 10♣ 5♥ 5♣ Kâ™  board starting up the final table below:

Seat 1: ILS007 (2942940 in chips)
Seat 2: kenny05 (3310440 in chips)
Seat 3: CONCRETE1990 (1308308 in chips)
Seat 4: sousinha23 (971806 in chips)
Seat 5: Yaba (4067295 in chips)
Seat 6: Afterpub (4236711 in chips)

Happy hour continues

As the blinds moved up to 40K/80K ante 10K Afterpub was looking to continue a hot streak after toiling around the bottom in chip count after the tables condensed down to two. sousinha23 would open shove for 714,306 as Afterpub re-shoved for 3.5 million from the cutoff. No one else hopped on board as sousinha23 showed A♦ 7♠ hoping to make it past the Q♦ K♥ of Afterpub. A queen in the door Q♥ 6♥ 6♠ 7♥ 2♥ and a four-flush to finish would send sousinha23 to the rail in sixth place ($15,660.78 + $5,361.50).

Sorry, the pub is closed

Afterpub’s chip lead would increase after sending another player to the curb. With the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 12.5K day one chip leader CONCRETE1990 would shove 1.08 million from the button as Afterpub made the call with 7â™  A♥ . CONCRETE1990’s 5♣ K♣ would find a club in the door but no more as the ace on the turn 10♣ 7♦ 4♥ Aâ™  7♥ would lock up the 2.2 million chip pot for Afterpub as CONCRETE1990 left in fifth place ($27,992.34 + $6,153.78).

Stealthy win

On the next hand kenny05 would min-raise from the cutoff as Afterpub and ILS007 made the call in the blinds. Both blinds would check the K♥ 7♠ A♥ flop as kenny05 bet 239,800. Afterpub would check-raise to 599,999 getting ILS007 to fold. kenny05 holding top pair A♣ Q♠ would shove for 1.9 million total as Afterpub quickly called with a royal flush draw 10♥ Q♥ . While the royal flush did not get there on the turn 8♠ , the 7♥ river was enough to send kenny05 home in fourth place ($42,921.59 + $5,873.24). To make matters worse for Yaba and ILS007, Afterpub would snag a 7.9 million chip pot off ILS007 on the next hand as the threesome tried to work out a deal but opted to play it out.

You are Yaba-daba-done

Relinquishing the 7.9 million chip pot to Afterpub left ILS007 with under a million chips and having to curl into survival mode. Six minutes after the failed chop negotiations ILS007 would shove 1.45 million from the small blind but that did not shake Yaba who made the call with J♦ A♥ . ILS007 needed some love from the board holding 5â™  K♣ but the board did not return ILS007’s Facebook message, running out blank Q♥ 4♥ 9â™  8♥ 6â™  for both players. Yaba collected the big bounty while ILS007 earned ($65,315.46 + $16,807.97) in third place.

Despite starting with a 12.8 million to 3.97 million chip disadvantage, Yaba would muscle up enough chips to start up chop negotiations again. This time a deal was brokered leaving $20,000.00 on the table for today’s champ.

Afterpub (Germany) $94,901.76
Yaba (Canada) $90,376.92

Drinks are on Afterpub!

Nearly a half hour into the heads-up battle with the blinds moving up to 60K/120K ante 15K Afterpub would min-raise from the button holding a 14 million to 2.7 million chip lead as Yaba made the call. Both players would check the 2♠ 7♥ 4♦ flop as Afterpub was more interested in the 9♠ turn card. Yaba would lead out for 362,100 as Afterpub applied pressure with a raise to 799,999. Yaba did not shrink from the bully and called as another nine 9♥ hit the river. Yaba checked as Afterpub followed through with a shove leaving Yaba a decision to make with the flopped pair of sevens 10♥ 7♦ . Betting against Afterpub holding one of the two nines left in the deck (or a better hand for that matter), Yaba made the call all-in as Afterpub flipped up 9♦ K♣ for the 2014 WCOOP Event #62 victory clenching hand earning $114,901.76 (and $38,757.26 in bounties)!
