It’s Friday. Depending on where you are in the world, you’re either minutes from the pub, already in bed for Saturday, or clock-watching like it’s your damned job. Even if you have a real job, you could probably do with a little you-time right now.
Why not spend some of that time in our oasis of distraction?
Here’s a quick rundown of what you might have missed this week and what you might miss if you don’t start planning pretty quickly.
FLYING SPECTACLES!
This will contend for one of the best poker photos of the year.
If you look really closely, you will see that not only is Alan Lau losing his damned mind at the end of the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon, he’s also losing his glasses. No matter how many posed winner’s photos you take, you won’t do much better than that. Here’s the story of Lau’s win: Alan Lau slays the Red Dragon.
FLYING TO PANAMA
We’re just a few weeks away from the next PokerStars Championship event. We’re headed to Panama, and you can be, as well.
You’re going to need to start planning pretty soon if you’re going. As it happens, we have a two-part planning guide for you. Need some help? Here are a couple of links that will help.

FLYING INSTEAD TO ROZVADOV
If you are closer to European ground and prefer to try your hand at slightly lower stakes, why not take advantage of the PokerStars Festival taking place in Rozvadov in early March?
Just find the casino between Prague and Munich, and get ready for 36 events over the course of the 12-day PokerStars Festival March 2-13.
You will be able to play the €2,200 High Roller, the €5,300 King’s High Roller, and the PokerStars Open with a €275 buy-in and four day 1s. Or, if you just want to play one event, might as well take your shot in the €1100 Main Event which will include a Day 1D turbo re-entry.

FLYING CARDS: POWER UP TIME!
If you weren’t paying attention earlier this week, PokerStars announced it is toying with an alpha version of a new kind of poker it calls Power Up. It’s poker as you know it but played in a way that adds a different level of strategy that might suit some of the more modern gamer types.

FLYING INTO YOUR EARS
It’s the 76th episode of the Hartigan/Stapes podcast now known as…ahem…Poker in the Ears.
This week James and Joe discuss Team PokerStars Pro Igor Kurganov and the that Power Up game mentioned…er…literally in the previous section here.
To give it a listen, just click on this link: Poker in the Ears Episode 76.
That should keep you busy until you make it through the weekend. Or at the very least, it will hopefully make the time fly by.
