Good afternoon all from the Bahamas and welcome to day five of the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

This is the one day on which the parameters are fixed. We have 24 players returning in the Main Event, and by the end of it we need only eight to remain. Presently there are three tables, and we want only one.

In other words, this is the last leg of the long race to the final table.

Ryan D’Angelo has more reason than most to hope his seat around that hallowed felt is already sealed. D’Angelo, aka “g0lfa”, had a spectacular 2009, when he won two WCOOP bracelets. His 2010 has started in similarly terrific fashion, and he has already amassed 7,478,000 chips during the first four days play. That would be a comfortable stack to take to the final – but obviously he will want more.

In second place is John Duthie, head honcho of the European Poker Tour and a founder member of Team PokerStars Pro. Duthie is always seen around final tables of the world’s most glittering tour, but he is usually handing over a winner’s trophy. Could he really be there to receive one?

There are 22 others who will do their best to stop him. There’s no room for sentiment in poker. The full list of contenders is over there on the chip count page, and we will update that throughout the day with all the big swings.

Prizewinners so far are on the prizewinners page and that too will be updated as players bust today. You’re not really going to want to see your name on there — the biggest money being reserved for the final eight — but everyone who departs now is guaranteed at least 75,000 consolations.

You can follow the action live at EPT Live and also stick right here at PokerStars Blog for the textual and photographic lowdown.

Play begins at noon. Hang on.
