5:00pm: Break time
The remaining players are heading on a 10-minute break.

Make sure to join us in a new blog once play resumes.

4:50pm: Minh doubles with top set
Minh Nguyen opened to 2,500 from the hi-jack and the big blind came along to see a J♦ 9♥ 2♣ flop.

Nguyen continued for 3,200 only to have the big blind check-raise to 8,100. Nguyen made the call, and then proceeded to call a bet of 10,500 when the turn landed the 4♦ .

The river fell the 3♦ , and with it came a quick bet of 15,000 from the big blind which was followed by a Nguyen all in for an additional 17,600. The big blind quickly called and tabled his Jâ™  9♦ , but it would be Nguyen’s J♥ J♣ that would see capture the pot and double through to 110,000 in chips.

4:40pm: Crivell battles Chio
The action folded to Patrick Crivell in the small blind and he raised to 2,500. Tom Chio made the call from the big blind to see a 7♣ 7♥ 10♦ flop fall.

Crivell continued for 2,000 and Chio made the call as the K♣ landed on the turn and both players checked. The 7♠ on the river went check, check again as Chio flipped over his A♣ 8♦ .

However it would be Crivell’s Kâ™  4♣ that would see him capture the pot and move to 60,000 as Chio slipped to 186,000.

4:30pm: Im on the sidelines
PokerStars Team Asia Pro Vivian Im is the latest player to find themselves on the rail.

4:20pm: Seet silences another
Following a preflop raise, Nathanael Seet three-bet the cutoff to 5,800 only to have the original raiser move all in for roughly 31,500 total. Seet went into the tank for close to three minutes before making the call.

Seet: A♥ Q♠
Opponent: J♠ J♣

The board ran out A♠ 8♠ 2♥ 10♦ 9♦ to see Seet eliminate his opponent and move to roughly 95,000 in chips.

4:10pm: Kurita kicked to the curb
Japan’s Yu Kurita has just been eliminated from the tournament.

Fortunately for her – and the other ladies here for the ACOP – the HK$8,800 Ladies Asia Championship is set to begin at 6:00pm.

4:05pm: Croc doubles
Catching the action on the Qâ™  Q♥ 8♣ flop we found Billy “The Croc” Argyros bet-calling all-in for his last 16,000.

Argyros: K♦ Q♦
Opponent: 8♥ 5♥

The turn of the K♣ and river of the 6♦ would ensure his double to roughly 40,000 in chips.

4:00pm: Level up, blinds 600/1,200, ante 100

3:55pm: Several tables gone
With the first level of the day nearly over, the clock currently reads 121 meaning 24 players have already been bounced to the rail.

If this rate continues, it is more than likely we will reach the money by days end.

3:50pm: Ohyama no more
Unfortunately Akira Ohyama has been eliminated from the tournament.

We saw him leaving the table before we could catch a hand, but after beginning the day on the short stack of just 14,000, one can assume that he wasn’t able to gather any momentum here in the first level of play.

3:45pm: Zalac falls
Facing a raise to 2,300, Ivan Zalac moved all in for 11,300 and his opponent made the call.

Zalac: A♣ 8♣
Opponent: 8♥ 5♥

With Zalac in great shape to double, the 10♦ 10♠ 9♣ 5♠ 6♠ board would see his opponent spike and force the Australian to the rail.

3:30pm: Graham gone
Facing a raise from Shu Xu, Jarred Graham moved all in for roughly 13,000 followed by a third player who had slightly more. Xu snapped called holding pocket aces and was up against Graham’s 9-9 and the third player’s J-J.

The flop brought an ace, and that was the end for Graham.

3:25pm: Juicy chips up
Juicy Li opened to 2,200 from the hi-jack and Roger Spets made the call from the button before Yifan Zhang moved all in for 17,600 total. Li made the call and Spets folded.

Li: A♠ J♦
Zhang: 9♣ 9♦

It would be a race for the at-risk Zhang, and when the board ran out 7♣ 4♠ Q♦ J♥ 10♦ , it would be Li the benefactor as she powered to 120,000 while Zhang hit the exit.

3:20pm: Graham’s jacks no good
Facing a raise to 3,000, Jarred Graham three-bet the button to 7,500 only to have Paul Elliot move all in for 25,500 next to act. The preflop raiser folded – indicating he had pocket tens – and Graham quickly called.

Graham: J♣ J♦
Elliot: Q♣ Q♥

The board ran out 9♦ 2♦ 3♥ 6♦ 6♣ to see Elliot fade a diamond or a jack as he doubled through to over 55,000 as Graham was left with just 14,000 in chips.

3:15pm: Westmorland exits
Jordan Westmorland moved all in for his last 11,500 and was called by Yue Hin Lam from the blinds.

Westmorland: 10â™  8â™
Lam: K♥ K♣

The board was spread 4♦ K♠ 5♥ 3♠ A♦ to see Westmorland make an early exit to the rail.

3:10pm: Depa doubles
Aidan Tam opened with a raise only to have Jonathan Depa move all in for 10,200. Tam made the call tabling his Kâ™  10♥ to be in dominating shape against Depa’s K♥ Qâ™  .

The board ran out J♣ 2♦ 2♥ 3♠ 8♥ and Depa doubled to roughly 22,500 in chips.

3:05pm: Naoya ain’t afraid
On the first hand of the day the action folded to Naoya Kihara on the button and he tossed in a raise of 2,300. With the action on Seung Hun Ko, he three-bet to 7,000 from the big blind.

Kihara responded by moving all in for roughly 40,000 to Ko into the tank for several minutes before he folded.

Kihara scooped the pot and flashed his 6♣ 4♠ for complete air.

3:00pm: Play underway
With players now in their seats, the cards are in the air to kick off Day 2.

The button is in seat seven and the plan will be the same as the last two days; seven 60-minute levels with a 10-minute break after every two.

Day 2 upon us; money bubble here we come!
Welcome back to PokerStars Live at the City of Dreams for the 2013 Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) and Day 2 of the HK$25,000 Warm-Up!

The last two days of play have seen some of the best players from the region – along with many International players game enough to make the trek – battle it out on the felt. Although Macau tournaments always carry lofty ambitions, the 338-player mark fell short of the inaugural running’s field size by 20. But with huge events all across the world running the past few weeks, the HK$7,540,780 prizepool can’t be overshadowed as it is still a great achievement.

Over those 338 that started, only 145 remain after enduring seven levels of play on their respective Day 1 flight. Day 1A belonged to Kai Sheng Yang who topped the field for 120,500, but on Day 1B Singapore’s Tom Chio would have the last laugh as he smashed the day amassing a 198,200-chip stack.

Day 1B and overall chip leader Tom Chio

A plethora of notables still remain with Team PokerStars Pros Celina Lin, Vivian Im and Naoya Kihara headlining a field that also consists of Macau veterans Juicy Li, Kai Paulsen, Terry Fan, Ken Wong, Tom Alner, Sparrow Cheung, Johnny Chan … the list literally goes on-and-on, and a complete set of counts can be found here.

Top 10 Chip Counts
Tom Chio (Singapore) – 198,200
Kai Sheng Yang (Chinese Taipei) – 120,500
Michael Sun (Canada) – 115,700
Nang Quang Nguyen (Vietnam) – 114,200
Masayoshi Tanaka (Japan) – 113,200
David Vamplew (Scotland) – 111,100
David Foran (Ireland) – 104,900
Saehoon Lee (Korea) – 102,400
Alvin Cheam (Australia) – 101,900
Wei Hsiang Yeu (Malaysia) – 100,000

The plan today is for seven levels, and by our calculations that should put us very close – if not in – the money which will see the final 38 players guaranteed a HK$45,000 payday while HK$1,700,000 awaits first.
