We’re back in the SKYCITY Auckland poker room for our continued coverage of the ANZPT Auckland Main Event. While there’s no other place we’d rather be that watching the action on the poker felt today, we do have to make note that it is a stunning day outside. The sky is a glorious, cloud-free blue and the sun’s heat actually has a little bite.

That’s some consolation the 105 returning players here on Day 2 with a quick elimination from the Main Event to be soothed by a day relaxing in the sun. With that in mind, we thought it might be a good idea to find out more about how one might relax in Auckland on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. A quick spot of Googling uncovered a piece from the New Zealand Herald which provided the top five ways to relax in Auckland. Perfect. Here’s what they suggested:

1. Stroll through Brick Bay Sculpture Park

A quick click to their website and we found out that this is a two kilometre trail through contemporary sculptures surrounded by picturesque landscapes and wildlife. After your walk you can enjoy a tasting platter and glass of wine.

2. Enjoy a cruise on the Waitemata Harbour

It’s a beautiful day to enjoy the harbour side here in Auckland and there are a whole heap of great activities to enjoy there. The 90-minute coffee cruise comes highly recommended.

3. Indulge at Chaun Spa

Chaun Spa’s range of luxurious treatments will give you a break from the sun as you unwind from the stresses of the poker table in an ambience of peaceful tranquillity.

4. Head to the sand dunes of Lake Wainamu

Auckland’s west coast is worth checking out and there’s no better way than feeling the sand in between your toes as you walk the slopes to reach the picturesque Lake Wainamu.

5. Take to the skies in a hot-air balloon

If you want to see all of Auckland at once, then the only place to do that is from above! Balloon Expeditions will give you a unique Auckland experience that you’ll never forget.

While those activities sound like fun, those taking their seats for Day 2 of the Main Event would much rather be playing cards. It’s crazy, but it’s true!

They’re taking their seats with the cards about to launch in the air. We’re in for a long day ahead to try and get close to the final table, with around ten levels of play expected today. Stay tuned to the PokerStars Blog for all the stories from the event, with PokerNews bring you the Live Updates in the feed above. Or if you’re busy out and about enjoying the sun, well, we don’t blame you!
