How much would you say the average glass of wine costs at a pub? I would say maybe $5 or $6 at a pub in the country side (or a decade ago) and closer to $8 or $9 at a Casino. How about a nice cut of steak? Let’s say $15 on a “Steak Night” special and at least $20 or more any other night. Now, add some surf to the turf and how much extra do you think you will be paying to have some prawns sit on your steak? Let’s say another $6 at the very least. Alright, get those calculators out. We aren’t mathematicians here at the PokerStars Blog, but we have the running tally at between at least $27 and $35 for a Surf ‘N’ Turf steak and wine combo.
The amount quoted above isn’t too bad really, is it? I mean, steak and prawns and a nice red to go along with it will definitely satisfy most and for $35 nobody would be complaining. The staff of the SKYCITY Auckland Casino would probably complain though. Not because they are rude, but because they know somewhere they can get a Surf ‘N’ Turf, with a glass of wine, for under $10.
Over the last three days of poker, dozens and dozens of players have been seen at the table gobbling up this amazing $9.90 Surf ‘N’ Turf special. We don’t blame them and I’m not going to lie, I’ve already had a couple myself. Not pointing any fingers, but APPT President Danny McDonagh is really cashing in on this great value.
Someone else who is having a blast with the SKYCITY Auckland Surf ‘N’ Turf special is Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang. Hailing from Singapore, Huang has been travelling the ANZPT circuit of late and will be looking to post a good result here in Auckland. Hopefully the great value meals here in the Nation’s Clubrooms will keep him focused and eager to stay at the tables for as long as humanly possible.
