A warm good morning from the Gold Coast, where the sun is beaming down, the local cafes are bubbling with activity and for those 69 survivors from Day 1A yesterday, it’s a great day to relax on the beach and soak up some rays. Of course, the perfect weather provides a love/hate dilemma for those travelling up from the winter chill of the Southern states. We love the mild, mid-twenty degree days of glorious blue skies and stunning sunshine, yet we’re insanely jealous that Queenslanders get to enjoy this most of the year round!

However one thing you learn as a tournament reporter is that the weather is pretty much the same within the confines of an air-conditioned casino, no matter which part of the world you are in.

And that’s where we find ourselves today, as the Jupiters Poker Room is expected to be pushed to the limits. The “full house” sign will be posted any moment now, as Day 1B of the 2010 ANZPT Gold Coast is going to be a sell out. It’s fantastic news for tournament poker in Queensland and a great result for the ANZPT.

Last night, Shivan Abdine bagged up the chip lead, just shy of 100,000 in chips. Will we see someone bag up six figures today? There’s plenty of likely candidates to do just that, with another stacked field expected. Today we’ll see the Season 2 ANZPT Player of the Year points leader and PokerStars Team Australia Pro Tony Hachem take to the felt, in one of the few spots on the tour where he doesn’t yet have a cash result to his credit.

Also joining Tony today will be ANZPT Canberra champion Jason Gray, ANZPT Sydney winner Angelo Hamataj, Australian Poker Hall of Famer Billy “The Croc” Argyros, 2010 Aussie Millions champ Tyron Krost and John Maklouf who will be attempting to reach an unprecedented fourth consecutive ANZPT final table.

The action will kick off at 11:30am local time so we look forward to your company then.
