So while many of the eliminated players can set out today for a beautiful luxury cruise around the bay and enjoy some New Zealand sunshine, our surviving 96 players will be setting sailing today on a different type of journey. They’ll be back in the SKYCITY Auckland Poker Room as Day 2 of the 2010 PokerStars.net APPT Auckland Main Event continues. It’s been smooth sailing for these players so far, but for some they’re about to enter unchartered waters, while others will be well away of the rocky seas that lay ahead.
The goal today will be to reach the money and our final 24 players. Reaching the money in an APPT event is an impressive achievement for any poker player, but many will be aiming a lot higher.
PokerStars qualifiers, Noah Vogelmen and Nauv Kashyap, will both have lofty goals as they topped the chip count leaderboard after their respective day one flights. Kashyap’s story in particular is impressive as he claimed a mighty victory in the PokerStars.net ANZPT Gold Coast event just last month.
Several others in our field have also continued their good form to prove that you can find some consistency in tournament poker. Ricky Kroesen will be looking for his fourth consecutive Main Event cash, Josh Barrett landed a six-figure score in Melbourne two weeks ago, Joel Dodds has been dominating both online and live over the past twelve months, Julian Cohen already has a title here in New Zealand this year, while Team PokerStars Pro Lee “Final Table” Nelson has been consistent for more than a decade.
They are just some of the 96 players, including 33 PokerStars qualifiers, who will be back in action this afternoon as the PokerStars.net APPT Auckland Main Event continues. We look forward to your company on the PokerStars Blog for all the live updates from the tournament floor.
