Is there such a thing as having too much sport to watch? We didn’t think so, and that notion has been confirmed for us with the newest redevelopment in the Crown Poker Room.

So long Vegas Bar, hello sports betting heaven.

The old bar has been upgraded to a more modern, spacious area to provide patrons with a fantastic location to enjoy some beers, have a punt and watch the poker action on the floor below.

It’s definitely a larger space than previously with far more stool seating and lounge areas, but the most notable addition are the plethora of sports screens scattered throughout the bar area. There are upwards of 20 screens on the walls, complemented by a full TAB located at the rear with plenty of hi-tech, touch-screen betting terminals to place a quick cheeky wager in the breaks.

The bar itself has also been improved. It has shifted forwards to now float effortlessly in the middle of the area to provide 360 degree service for thirsty patrons.

The icing on the cake is the ledge overlooking the poker room. Previously, it was possible to sneak a peak at the poker action if you got a stool on the right angle. Now, there’s a full ledge running the length of the bar area, with plenty of seats so you can sit and look straight down at your friends and family playing in the APPT Melbourne Main Event.

We do have one gripe though. It appears that the pinball machine is gone. Yep, apparently modernization does not include pinball. We’re not sure how Dan Neilson will be able to stand upright now without a pinball machine to prop him up, but regardless, it’s a fantastic redevelopment and sure to be well enjoyed by players and fans alike this week.
