It’s moving day at here the APPT Queenstown Main Event. Our final 66 combatants have come together in the same room for the first time to endure six more levels, and by the end of today, we should have a good idea of who our contenders are.

Our players have enjoyed a nice relaxing morning today thanks to a slightly later 2pm start. For some, that time was best spent resting sore heads from the night before, but for others it was an opportunity to get out and enjoy all this town has to offer. We’ve heard that a group of players took the trip up the gondola to battle it out on the luge, others hired bicycles to take a ride through the park, there were the usual crew on the frisbee golf course while some enjoyed an alfresco lunch.

Recharged and refreshed, they are now back in the SKYCITY Casino, taking their seats for Day 2 of the Main Event and reacquainting themselves with their tablemates. Some faces will be new and some will be old. Some faces they will be happy to see, others perhaps not.

Oliver Gill and Matthew Wakeman are two who seem to enjoy a love-hate relationship. Wakeman was a little tardy to his seat this afternoon after a heavy night, and Gill greeted him in his typically chirpy way.

“Oh, I thought you were just going to blind off until our table broke rather than have to sit next to me!” announced Gill at a volume that most of Queenstown could hear. Wakeman gave a sigh and settled in for a long day ahead.

Other interesting tables will see heavy-hitters Jeff Rossiter and Dave Allan tangle, Day 1b chip leader Daniel Laidlaw won’t have it so easy today against Tom Grigg, Ben Richardson, Stevan Chew and Alicia Sale, while our overall chip leader, Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang will have a tough time with the aggressive Jackson Zheng and Daniel Neilson on his direct left.
