The chips are moving around at the top of the leader board here on Day 2 of the APPT Queenstown Main Event with young Jonathan “Jono” Bredin storming right into contention after a big clash with Matthew Wakeman.

The chips were in preflop with Bredin’s pocket rockets making quads on the board of 8♥ A♥ 5â™  A♣ 10♥ to crush the pocket jacks of Australia’s number one online-ranked player.

Bredin is a man who is proving to the world that poker is a game that knows no boundaries. Bredin has Cerebral Palsy and is wheelchair bound. With impeded speech and only the use of one arm, Bredin is able to still compete with the best players in the Asia-Pacific region through the help of a carer and his trusty iPad.

Bredin’s carer squeezes the cards and handles the chips, while Bredin makes all the decisions, communicating to his carer through his iPad.

If anyone at the table sympathizes with Bredin’s condition, they are soon reminded that poker is an even playing field as soon as Bredin starts to take their chips!

This is Bredin’s first ever APPT event after winning his way through an online satellite on PokerStars, but he has had a taste of some success in poker after finishing in 5th place in the APL Main Event III a Crown Casino in February for a collect of $23,800.

Even now, as this piece is about to be published, we’ve just received word that Bredin has raked in another huge pot with pocket aces. He’s now up to 140,000 half way through Day 2 and set for a deep run in this event. Bredin will be looking to turn his first APPT event into his first APPT cash and perhaps even his first APPT title. If he does achieve such an incredible feat, then it will warm the hearts of Queenstown and the entire poker community.

Earlier today, PokerStars.tv hostess Sarah Grant caught up with Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang to talk about his success in Queenstown:
