We already mentioned some of the positive reasons why players should choose Day 1a as the day to take their shot in the Aussie Millions Main Event. Well, we just thought of another one. The weather.

If you’ve ever ventured to Australia in January then you’ll already know that it gets hot. Damn hot. Just ask the Australian Open tennis players who recently endured a week of hot weather that hovered close to 44 degrees Celsius (about 111 degrees Fahrenheit) every day. It was so hot that the lines melted off the court and the net caught fire. Ok, so it wasn’t quite that bad, but they did have to call a halt to play at one stage for fear of the heat becoming dangerous to players.

Now with the Aussie Millions Main Event kicking off, it appears that we’re in store for an equally oppressive week ahead. Here’s your Melbourne weather forecast sponsored by the PokerStars Blog:

Sunday – 41 (106)
Monday – 38 (100)
Tuesday – 29 (84)
Wednesday – 33 (91)
Thursday – 38 (100)
Friday – 40 (104)
Saturday – 39 (102)
Sunday – 38 (100)

For those coming out from Vegas, you’ll probably scoff at those numbers, but for the Europeans arriving straight from a chilly winter, you’re going to get some colour on that pale skin here in Melbourne!

That is of course, unless you spend all your time inside the air-conditioned comfort of the Crown Poker Room. The weather forecast here for the next week reads: “Fine, no chance of showers, 22 degrees”.

We thoroughly encourage visitors to get out and about in Melbourne and enjoy the sites that this wonderful city has to offer. But if you’re not a fan of heat, then you’re best bet this week is to make a deep run at the Aussie Millions where the weather is perfect every day.

The other opportunity our players will get to enjoy some fresh air will come during the dinner break which has just arrived for our Day 1a players. 75 minutes to get outside and enjoy some al fresco dining along the Yarra River. What better way to enjoy Melbourne?
