It’s well worth qualifying online for both the UKIPT and EPT London stops, even if you can afford to buy in directly.

Why? Because you can win a Platinum Pass simply be being one of those qualifiers. Here’s a look at what you get, how you can qualify, and how you can win that Platinum Pass.

You could win a Platinum Pass just by qualifying for EPT or UKIPT London

FOLLOW IN THESE QUALIFIERS’ FOOTSTEPS

We’ll get to that Platinum Pass in just a second. But here’s the proof of what qualifying for an event can sometimes mean.

Throughout the PokerStars Blog’s 17-year existence, we’ve chronicled countless tales of tournament qualifiers, some so improbable you’d be forgiven for thinking we’d spun you a yarn.

For example, there’s Alex Brito: the Brazilian who lost his job at the beginning of the Covid pandemic and then turned a $4 satellite into $1.1 million by winning the Sunday Million Anniversary.

Alex “AAAArthur” Brito spun a $4 satellite into $1.1M by winning the Sunday Million 14th Anniversary edition

Then there’s the 21-year-old from Florida who qualified for the European Poker Tour (EPT) San Remo online back in 2008–only his second major live tournament –and won it all for €869,000, his first recorded cash. His name? Jason Mercier.

Jason Mercier’s glittering career began by qualifying for the EPT online

That same year we also saw a baby-faced, brace-toothed qualifier named Mike McDonald take down EPT Dortmund for €933,600 to become the youngest-ever EPT champion at just 18 years of age.

And who could forget the most memorable and momentous of them all? The one that went beyond fairy tale to the point of inconceivable.

Chris Moneymaker qualified for the WSOP Main Event on PokerStars and changed the poker world forever

The evidence is clear: everyone loves a satellite-winner spin-up.

But even if your bankroll affords you the ability to buy into a tournament directly, sometimes there are added bonuses reserved only for qualifiers, aside from simply getting in for cheap.

Even super high rollers like Stephen Chidwick, Dominik Nitsche, Timothy Adams and Daniel Dvoress still regularly win packages to EPT events through online satellites, despite clearly having big enough bankrolls to buy in directly.

At the upcoming UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) and EPT stops in London, those who qualify for either Main Event on PokerStars are privy to a host of added benefits.

Most notably, an effortless shot at a Platinum Pass worth $30,000.

WHAT ONLINE QUALIFIERS GET AT EPT / UKIPT LONDON

All online qualifiers for EPT London and UKIPT London will be eligible to participate in a live “all-in shootout tournament” on October 22 at the Hilton Park Lane, where the winner will receive a Platinum Pass worth $30,000.

You read that right. You could win a Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship (PPC) 2023.

An all-in shootout tournament is when players are forced all in every and until there’s a winner. The only real stipulation is that you’re in the room. That’s it. To be in with a shot of winning you simply need to show up and be in the room.
